This is probably my favorite savory snack. It originated from Indian immigrants in the Caribbean, specifically from Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname. The dough is fried and is made with split peas and spices (turmeric, cumin, etc.). It's best served with some kind of sauce or chutney (though I love eating it by itself, the horror lol). I like tamarind sauce with it the most, hence the tamarinds in the second divider. I added sorrel (roselle, but no one I know calls it that lol) flowers to the first one because the color is so pretty, and they're used to make a popular drink in the Caribbean.
