Someone pointed it out in twitter s while ago but its funny how both of their right(?) arms are inhuman. (Even if kais was temporary, supposedly)

So as I mentioned, there is a language barrier between them. Clay speaks English, and for Kai, I’m going with Japanese since there’s no known verbal language for Ninjago despite there being a written language. This leads to a long, sometimes intense game of charades as they figure out what the other is saying. Daidan also sounds Japanese, and she really freaks Clay out since dragons are either myths or considered long extinct in Nexo Knights, and there’s one speaking to him right now.

Both of them speak kind of like children in the other’s language with pretty noticeable accents. As much as Kai wants to make fun of Clay - in a playful manner of course - he doesn’t have room to talk when he also speaks in a similar manner when it comes to English. That doesn’t stop him though. Genuinely smiling and laughing is hard to come by in the land of monsters.

The story follows Kai trying to keep Clay alive and teach him what he’s already learned of this place. One scene that’s my favorite is when Kai makes a promise to Clay that when they make it out, regardless of who’s world they end up in, he’ll show Clay what his culture’s cuisine is like over dinner. The dinner was less than appetizing fish that they’d caught and cooked. The whole thing was inspired by the idea of them already knowing each other from somewhere when Kai shows up in Knightington.

Rumors and videos of a flaming red dragon with a person on its back circle around and Clay quickly recognizes who it is, tells the others to lower their weapons, and greets his old friend and soon to be crush with a hug, introducing him as the man who saved his life. Lance absolutely senses Clay’s crush on the new guy before he does.

I too can imagine Clay trying to make the best impression on master Wu to a point he stresses about messing up even though he is an amazing partner (aside for few flaws)

I can see the weight just dropping from his shoulders when sensei wu accepts him, means the world to him.
