5. Phocasm (Me)

I told you I would post some really obscure work, so I took the liberty of featuring myself, or rather a song by me. I made it specificly for all the people at Musica In Extenso as a thank you for making my blog part of their Tumblr. Whether they like the song or not is a matter of personal taste - there's just no accounting for what people like, which is partly the point of my blog. 

Heyho, I also took the liberty of calling my track, MusicInEx. I hope that's OK. It's a totally home made, slightly mysterious sounding tune - written, played, produced and mastered by me. :)

A cool, clear starry night was the inspiration for this tune.

My latest tune is kind of airey.              

     I like...nope, I love! making/composing/constructing various music pieces and because I like a bunch, (not all), of different styles, I have two projects going. One, Phocasm, making more conventional, melodic tunes and the second, Liudprand, which concentrates on energetic, beat driven tracks, where I can experiment with rhythms and sounds.

     I find the arranging part the most testing and probably the mixing a little tedious. I work on a lot of tracks at once, swapping from one to another, to another etc. until I end up with 2 or 3 go tunes, on which I focus through to completion. This takes me ages, because I like to let what I’ve made, marinate, so to speak. Then I tinker...and adjust,,,and fiddle around with...and...well you get the picture. Also, I dump a lot of started projects but never throw anything away. I may utilise bits of audio later which I can manipulate or transform in some way. I also use my Liudprand ID to remix other peoples tracks. I like remixing tunes - pretty much any style. it’s a challenge, it’s fun and you learn stuff. I’ve had some success in remix contests.

     One of the attractions of making digital/computer/electronic/synth/field recorded music, is the unlimited array of sound that you can come up with. BUT, even with all these sonic options to fool around with and listen to.....I’m still a total pushover when it comes to hearing the traditional, accoustic instruments that are used in such a wonderful way in classical music.
