My headcanon is that the gods don’t really care what species or appearance their children come out as since gods work differently from mortals (I mean just look at Poseidon’s kids)
When Hypnos and Pasithea had their kids (the Oneiroi), Phobetor came out looking disturbing since he’s the god of nightmares and can take the form of all kinds of beasts. He can become more terrifying depending on his mood. His family are cool with how he looks and don’t even bring it up. Also Phobetor’s a mama’s boy
Hypnos: “Hey Zagreus, meet my son Phobetor! He’s kinda shy.”

Slowly getting back to designing Greek gods, but starting with the minor ones for now because the Olympians are way too complex for me 😭
My headcanons about Hypnos and his sons, the Oneiroi:
• After his children were born, they took over most of Hypnos's duties. You could say he's basically just the official representative for his sons when dealing with the other gods now, though he still handles some of his original responsibilities.
• Only his mother and his twin brother have ever seen Hypnos's face. Others are simply not meant to see it, because if you did, you'd never be able to sleep properly again.
• The brooch that holds his cloak is the only gift from his mother, Nyx, that he keeps and truly treasures.
• The Oneiroi also hide their faces, following their father's example, but each for their own reason:
· Morpheus has no true face. As the god of dreams, he constantly shifts his appearance and has no single form.
· Phantasus literally has NO face. As the god of surreal and fantastical dreams, he often appears in them as an inanimate object.
· Phobetor does have a face, though it can change, just not as fluidly as Morpheus's. However, his true visage is so terrifying that his brothers gifted him a mask. It hides the horror and gives the visible parts of his face a more human-like appearance.
• Hypnos has 8 pairs of wings, Morpheus has 3 pairs, Phantasus has 2 pairs, and poor Phobetor has no wings at all :(
How the pastas would react to your coming out! (trans edition)
Characters: Grave Robber (Silas Grace), EC (Eyeless Cat), Phobetor (Phobie), Slenderpunk, Blair the Slaughterer (Blair Lovelock), Ticci Toby (Tobias Rogers), Jeff the killer (Jeffrey Woods), Gaby the protector (Gabriela Martínez)
TW/CW: None
Grave Robber (Silas Grace)
"For real? Shit, lets go tell grand-pa!"
Silas would be VERY supportive. HUGE cis ally. He'd offer to tell your dead relatives to use your prefered pronouns for you, which could definitely make you uncomfortable if that isn't your cup of tea, but it's the thought that counts!
EC (Eyeless Cat)
"Mrrrap! mrrrp! *purrrr... purrrrrrr.... purrrrrrr....*"
She doesn't speak english, but she's very happy to see—or rather—hear you!
Phobetor (Phobie)
"Me too, kid! What? This body ain't exactly male."
Having a body that doesn't match who you are on the inside isn't anything new to a body-jacker like Phobie!
Slenderpunk
"That's fair! What are your pronouns?"
Slenderpunk's understanding of her own identity as a demi-girl and demi-human is lacking. She's unsure if she chooses to appear as androgynous and feminine because of her unhealthy relationship with most masculine individuals in her family, or because that's who she truly is on the inside.
Perhaps it could be "a little bit of both", but how would she know?
She struggles with these questions, but doesn't let that struggle get in the way of her ability to support her friends in how they choose to express theirs.
Punk is well-versed in identities most would consider "chronically online", as many members of the bands she plays in use complex labels, neopronouns, microlabels, and xenogender labels to describe their identities.
Blair the Slaughterer (Blair Lovelock)
"Oh, cool! What kind?"
While she is pretty woke for a circular-saw weilding, serial killing, batshit insane, split-faced maniac, she's not the best with microlabels and may struggle with getting your pronouns right at first.
But! That doesn't mean that she's not willing to learn! Blair would never willingly misgender someone—friend, victim, or foe.
Ticci Toby (Tobias Rogers)
"S-sss.. So are- Are y-ya changin' names?"
Toby 100% tries to convince trans proxies to change their names to something stupid like "George" or "Pennyworth", or god forbid, "Trash boat". (He saw that one regular show episode and would find it hilarious if someone actually went through with it, but the novelty would wear off.)
Jeff the killer (Jeffrey Woods)
"Uhh.. Pretty sure my brother is one of those."
Jeff isn't homophobic, per se, he just can't tell the difference between most queer identities on the fly. HE IS QUEER, but incredibly out of touch. Once you remind him that trans ≠ homosexual, he would be accepting but indifferent, using your new and old pronouns and name interchangeably until he got the hang of it.
Gaby the protector (Gabriela Martínez)
"Really? I'll take note."
Gaby is a straight ally! While she doesn't mingle with the other proxies very often, she would not react poorly to one of the few she does hang around coming out to her, and would adapt quickly to their new prefered name and pronouns.
She doesn't enjoy making a big deal out of these kinds of things, as she isn't sure how you would respond, and so she plays it safe and keeps her reaction casual and professional.
She may attempt to wear a pride-related pin to "subtly" indicate to you that, while she does like to keep things lowkey, she fully accepts who you are and wants you to feel safe enough to express your identity however you please.

I'll never stop thinking about hypnos and his kids the onieros, morpheus, phobetor and phanatsos
I just feel like he'd be a very doting parent. His kids would definitely be velcro kids in my eyes, lol.
I think he would look to his mother example for guidance on some parts while recognizing how she messed up with him and trying to avoid those mistakes
Its even better when you add zagreus, and you have these two trying not to recreate the mistakes their parents made and just in general doing their best (i also just adore zagnos, so that too)
Idk i just know i love art of the hypnos and his boys, and every piece of art i find adds 5 years to my lifespan man (it's even 10 times better when its zagnos)
I feel like Hypnos is an amazing dad, Hades Game, Percy Jackson, whatever
Also that the Oneroi are his sons just makes sense
In that sense...
IT MUST REALLY SUCK FOR THE HYPNOS CABIN WHEN SOMEONE DIES
LIKE, SURE, MOST GODS ARE RELATED, BUT HYPNOS CABINS UNCLE IS LITERALLY DEATH
Hypnos be like to his twin, Pwease don't kill my baby I know it's you job but I love em 🥺,
Like he has so many immortal children it's so hard for him to imagine his kids dieing, like he'd put them in a coma to save em or something
I feel like if they do die, or close to death, he may turn them into Oneroi, is that possible??, so he can always be with them
Man can go visit his kids in their DREAMS, Zeus got nothing on him, buddy would be visiting his kids probably to spite him, we all know that one myth
Last note, I feel like Phobetor, God of Nightmares and son of Hypnos, wouldn't give his siblings nightmares, and only them, gives everyone else nightmares too
Hypnos family is probably the only good functional loving family tell me I'm wrong

Anyone else have deities just pop by to say hello or introduce themselves?
Last night I was thinking about Hypnos and Morpheus a lot, just recalling some past interactions and experiences
But after I'd gone to bed, I had such a terrifying nightmare that it woke me up. I was frozen in place and really really hot with adrenaline, but for some reason I had the word "Oikos" in my mind
I thought maybe it was the name of a god I didnt know yet but when I looked it up, it was just the Greek word for 'family' or 'household,'
And upon further research, I found out the god of nightmares was Phobetor, the brother of Morpheus and son of Hypnos. Makes a lot more sense I'd wake up to the word for 'family'
So after work I got my dice and cards ready and called out to him to ask him directly, and he confirmed that he was the one who popped by and gave me the nightmare, and that he had shown up just to make himself known, since I didn't know him before
I think somehow he knew I was thinking about his father and brother and he stopped by to essentially say, "Hey, that's my family, I'm here too!"
He feels rather kind, which I was already expecting. I don't think being the god of something scary makes anyone inherently mean or evil, it's just their domain, it's what they do
I thanked him for stopping by and introducing himself, even if he did so in a way that frightened me at first, and made sure he knew I was glad to know him now
