Last night I got to watch my frog friend climb all over the place while hunting for bugs. At first I was super nervous that she was going to fall off of the railing, she even slipped a few times, but then I realized that she’s probably a pro since she’s been living up here for months now. After she climbed out of view, I asked that she let me see her today so that I’d know she was alright, and then went to sleep. This morning she was in her little corner, patiently waiting for me to come outside so she could let me know all was well :) Also, I’ve decided to call her Phibby for short. Last night I dreamt that some authoritative figure handed me a knotted piece of cord. It took me a minute or so, but I figured out how to undo the knot and gave it back. He said, “You’re pretty smart, but the record for that knot is 12 seconds.” I said something like, “I know I have potential, I know I’m actually really smart, my brain is just out of shape.” I frequently have dreams where I’m “tested” in such ways (usually it’s a test of my strength of will, not necessarily cleverness/intelligence) and I always fall just short of my potential. It’s really cool, but also frustrating and kind of sad, because I know it to be true of my waking life too. I lack the sense of direction and motivation to meet my true potential (mentally, creatively, magickally, you name it), and I don’t really know how to fix it. I feel like I really want a mentor/guide, but I also don’t trust anyone enough to follow someone else’s beliefs and rules 100%. I’m very much a “find my own way” type of person, but it’s so much easier to get lost when you’re traveling off the beaten path.
