my desk is cleaner now when i’m graduated and doing phd applications full time than it ever was when i was in school lol
I want to try getting active on here again. Life has been a lot and I've missed posting on here, I've found it really helps get my creative gears turning. Help me please, tag me in stuff, suggest things you might want to see. Worldbuilding, character stuff, excerpts, whatever. I miss tag games and asks and such and interacting with folks on here.
To the people who have advice to give and nobody to give advice to, I entreat those who have grad school experience to help me:
I am applying to PhD programs. How formal must a Statement of Purpose/Personal Statement/[insert various names for application essay here] be? What are the most important topics to touch on?
The big question: How important is it for me to talk about my personal feelings on the subject I want to study?
I think myself clever, and I write too much. Then I dial it back and end up with a bulleted list in prose form.
Help please.

i’ve been so busy and forgetting to take photos/post!!! i’ve spent the last month reading, working on my phd applications, spending time with my loving friends, and battling burnout.
i did make a cutesy vision board for november! :3
goals for this month:
~ work on phd applications
~ move my body at least once daily
~ read at least one chapter of a book daily
~ keep up with my journaling/scrapbooking
~ focus on self-care and loving my body
Well, good news everyone! I got a letter of offer into the PhD program I applied for 😁
Less exciting reality, is that because I missed the scholarship deadline earlier on, I can't afford to start yet. So I'll have to see if I can defer to a later date until I can apply for the midyear round of scholarships.
But still, stoked to know I got in 🎉
Probably for the best to start later in the year anyway, because we are in the middle of doing massive renovations to our house and I would not have time for both.
