The sight of the… broomstick? Caught the attention of his lower set of eyes, he kept his top set trained on the sea for sake of discretion. People rarely caught him staring if he did so with his peripheral set. Were they a Witch? He thought the whole broomstick thing was a stereotype exclusive to children’s novels. After all, the few Witches he’d met before lacked broomsticks… or were they alchemists? What was the difference again?

“That’s a shame, but I’m merely looking,” he mused. He’d gotten bored of watching the waves a short while ago and instead resorted to reading the names off of the sides of distant boats. Someone had informed him that watching the sea was ‘relaxing’. He’d yet to find the joy in it.

“You help is appreciated but unnecessary, I’ve no intention of entering the water. I can’t swim,” that last part was a lie, though he added it in an attempt to avoid unnecessary questions. He could swim just fine, as long as it was fresh water. The sea was far too salty for a spectre.

“...Ah.” She honestly wouldn’t have been surprised to know that he’d been eyeing the broom. Most people did, though considering he didn’t seem to be like most people, well...

“...Are you new to the city?” The witch floated down to land gently on her feet and lean the broom against the metal railing. She knew she shouldn’t pry, but she did have to wonder if other people could see him, too. “Or, uh...this plane of existence? Wait-- that sounds kind of rude, sorry. Just that, uhm...I don’t usually get to meet people who look like you do. Would it be rude to ask what you are?”

Why did I know this was going to happen thesE DIFFICULT DECISIONS
