and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”
Action expresses priorities.
Every once in awhile religious people make me speechless. Sometimes on Sunday morning, I will see them stop children from running in the hallway and say “This is a church, so stop running!” Wait…. When did a church become a place where running is outlawed? I mean you could say “Stop running because you might run into someone and hurt them.” One is a legit concern while the other is pharisaical, and I will let you decide which one is the legit (Hint: Check the above scripture).
As Christians, we need to be careful about what things we hold on to what is important and what is an opinion or preference. I would hate to see, a child to dislike the church, because it is a place where no running is allowed and miss out on the grace, mercy and love that is found only in Jesus Christ.
PrayerGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, and now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
