Instead I am Icarus.
You sit there idly as I rot in the decay of my own mind,
A blessed ignorance if the broken design in which you molded these wax wings,
I could have been someone who flew with hope,
But instead, I am Icarus and these wings are slowly melting away.
Instead, I am Icarus.
Falling from the heat of your sun,
Unable to call for help as I drown,
My wings now destroyed by the expectation of mankind,
Awaking the demons who wish to rip apart those useless humane wishes.
So now I am no one.
And the gods are smiling down,
Smiling down at there perfect disaster,
Not as they planned but as it must end,
A malfunction of your design,
Drowned by the expectations you burn into my mind,
So now they smile as my wings of a better future are melted away.
So now Daedalus, what shall you do?
Watch your creation drown in the world so cruel?
You never taught me how to swim,
so how, after falling so far, shall I survive the waves of darkness that threatens me?
By your ignorance Daedalus, I am no more,
But if you choose now to build those wings better, maybe there is a chance.
I could have been someone,
Instead, I am Icarus.
