I want to believe it would make some sort of difference in his response - less "Oof, she got got," and more "Well that's just cruel." But with Phaedra, it would still be hard for him to fully sympathize.

Cheth has a soft spot for children, and likes humans in general, but he does have trouble with anyone who played a role in supporting his further imprisonment, even tangentially. Phaedra's lineage would be hard for him to reckon with, even if she were very young. And I imagine she would still be quite zealous even as a 10 year old. In more of a naïve, disorganized way, but still vehemently so.
