Hope I'm not too late! Anyway, have you read The Lord of the Rings? J. R. R. Tolkien, of course, but I think you'd probably enjoy them. Of course, I can never be sure, so also check out the Millenium series by Stieg Larsson. It's three books long, including The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
