Hi! I've been looking at your posts on the Romanian adaption of Phantom, and I noticed the plot is pretty much the same but there are several differences in the storyline/costumes/etc. Could you possibly give me a lowdown on the new plot of how they changed it? It is very interesting to me! Thanks! Also, why they have Christine as a blonde? Okay thank you!
I probably don’t know much more than you do - I haven’t seen much in terms of publicity for it before it premiered. The Romanian production is a non-replica, meaning that while it sticks to the score and libretto, the production is allowed to put their own creative stamp on the show in terms of sets, costumes and staging. As much as I love Maria Björnson’s original designs, I’m pretty open to seeing different visual takes on the show - sometimes they find interesting twists on things, other times it goes horribly wrong (in my opinion).
As for why Christine is blonde in this version, who knows? Maybe they wanted to stick closer to how she’s described in the book or maybe they just wanted to be different.
