The atmosphere between the four friends grew tense. With Phil refusing to even look at Dan, and Dan often in his room refusing to come out, the two remaining girls decided to get a handle in things. Zoe was in charge of the boysâ wellbeing, making sure they were okay, they ate, basically being a mother hen, something she was very used to after many hours of looking after her pet pug Nala and her two guinea pigs. Hui was set to be a spy/detective, hanging out with Dan or Phil and making sure they didnât bump into each other in the hallway. God knows what would happen if that was to occur. In her free time, Hui usually spied on Phil, wanting to find out who hurt him. And to her luck, and absolute horror, she witnessed the evil-doer in action, one fateful lunchtime.
It was by pure coincidence that she stumbled upon the scene. After eating lunch, Hui was headed to Ravenclaw Tower when she heard a familiar sneering voice coming from the corridor to her left.
â-And thatâs why mudblood scum like you donât belong here.â A sound of a foot coming into contact with something rang through the air, accompanied with the sickening crunch of bones and a scream of pain. Huiâs features twisted into a face of absolute fury, and she rounded the corner, standing in-between Phil and Draco Malfoy.
âHui?â Dracoâs sneer melted away into one of surprise and slight terror. âI-I.â
âSave it.â Hui snarled. Her eyes turned a blindingly bright blue, a blue glow surrounding her as she rose into the air in her anger. âDraco Malfoy, what on earth are you doing?â Her voice was thundering, layers of different voices echoing as she spoke.
Dracoâs eyes grew wide and he stumbled back, hand reaching out to grab either Crabbe or Goyle, but only finding thin air as the two had long since fled.
âDonât you dare run.â Hui invaded Dracoâs head and cemented him to the opposite wall, paralysing him. She turned to Phil, voice softening as she asked him if he was okay.
âIâm-Iâm fine.â Phil stuttered, trying, and failing, to get up. âNo, Iâm fine, really. Hui, Iâm good.â
Hui shook her head and reached out a hand, a blue force shooting out and pulling Phil to his feet. She watched as Phil was picked up by the force and was floated away, heading towards the hospital wing.
âI-I didnât mean to!â whimpered a voice from behind her, and she flew towards him in a second, her eyes millimetres away from his.
âOf course you did.â she whispered in anger, her eyes fiery. âYou always say that. You always ruin everything. Youâve changed from the gentle boy I met when I was little. And I fear you wonât change back.â she let go of Malfoy, returning to the ground and walking away.
Malfoy was left speechless as he watched her leave, regret in his heart and self hatred in his eyes.
âShit.â

Ring
The bell in front of the bookshop tinkled, a tall figure walking in. A small 7 year old girl sat behind the desk on a pile of books, her nose buried in one. A shadow cast over the page, making her look up. A pale woman with blonde hair and a long coat stood before her, her hands curled around a black leather purse.
âMay I help you?â the girl asked the woman, smiling at her toothily.
âIâm looking for a book for my son. Is anyone like your mummy or daddy around?â
The girl didnât think the womanâs voice suited her appearance. Her voice was warm and caring, but soft and timid at the same time. Yet her appearance was harsh and sharp, black and dangerous.
âNo, theyâre not. But I can help you! My name is Hui!â the girl stuck out a hand for the woman to shake and the corners of her her lips twitched up at Huiâs cuteness.
âI suppose. Iâm looking for a book my son would like.â
âOne for boys?â Hui asked, jumping down from her high stack of books. The woman nodded and Hui motioned for her to follow her. The woman was twice her size, but she still managed to hold her hand and guide her through the tumbling maze of shelves.
âAre you that lady that lives in the big manor down the road?â
âYes. Iâm surprised you know of that place.â
âIâm surprised you know of THIS place. Not many people come here, but when they do, they do spend an awful lot.â
The woman laughed, a warm smile spreading across her face.
âAnyway, miss. I still donât know what your name is.â
âMy name is Narcissa Malfoy. But you can call me Narcy if you want.â she responded.
âYou have a pretty name,â said Hui.
âWhy, thank you.â
They reached a sign that said âChildrenâs section.â and stopped. Hui pushed a tall ladder with all her might along a shelf, climbing up and pulling out a book.
âThis is what you want, Miss Narcy.â she said, climbing back down.
âAre you sure?â Mrs Malfoy asked, glancing at the book cover. âWinnie the Pooh.â she read out.
âYes, maâam. I know thatâs exactly what you want.â Hui replied with confidence, leading Mrs Malfoy back to the front of the bookstore.
âThatâll be ÂŁ3.50, miss.â she said, walking up a small staircase of books to her seat behind the cashier.
âOh, dear,â Mrs Malfoy said, peering into her purse. âHow silly of me, I seem to have forgotten my money.â The purse jingled with coins as she drew her hand back, making her face red with embarrassment.
âOh, donât worry miss. We accept wizard money, too.â
Mrs Malfoyâs mouth opened slightly before she closed it, placing a few coins into the small hand. Letâs just say that she left the shop not only with a muggle book for her son, but perhaps a new friend for him as well.

âZoe! Hey!â Zoe walked out of her charms class to be greeted by Alfie, instantly making her blush.
âHey,â she said casually. âWhatâs up?â
âNothing much. IwasjustwonderingifyouwantedtogotoHogsmeadethisweekendIheardthereâsanewsmoothieplacethatâsopenedanditseemedprettycool.â Alfie pretended to act cool about it but ended up saying it quickly with no breaks in between, his face as red as Zoeâs. Zoe caught every word, and blushed even more.
âIâd love to.â she smiled, heart fluttering.
âMeet you Saturday in the courtyard at 1?â
âSee you then!â Zoe said, practically skipping down the corridor. She looked back, and giggled as Alfie seemed to be doing the same. She couldnât wait.

Phil was very confused. He hadnât been woken by a smiling Zoe like he had been for the past few weeks. Ever since Hui dealt with Malfoy, he had been healing well and was now strong enough to head to the hall without Zoeâs help, and when he did so that morning, he was surprised to find the great hall empty, even though the four long tables were still full of breakfast meals. Eyebrows crossed, he turned as he heard the sounds of cheering from outside in the courtyard. Huh. That was odd. Limping towards the door to investigate, his jaw dropped open and his eyes widened as he looked at the scene unfolding around him. Yes, the whole school was cheering. Yes, some students were whizzing about on broomsticks above his head. Yes, some students were parkouring around the roofs of the castle. But those things werenât the reason on why Phil was nearly in tears, a warm feeling spreading through him as he felt the urge to shout for joy.
For the whole of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was covered in an LGBT rainbow, the entire student body wearing matching rainbows and multi-coloured hats shouting âI AM GAY AND PROUD! I AM TRANS AND PROUD! I AM BI AND PROUD!â and more.
âSurprise.â whispered a voice from behind him, and Phil turned with a huge grin on his face.
âDan? You did this?â A tear fell down Philâs cheek as he scanned the whole crowd, beaming as he saw the large variety of shouting hats being worn. He watched as Zoe kissed Alfie Deyes. He watched as Joe Sugg full on snogged Caspar Lee. He watched as Felix swept Marzia off her feet and spinned, making Marzia giggle. And finally, he looked into Danâs eyes, his big, almond shaped chocolate brown eyes that were speckled with amber sparkles.
People say that thereâs a difference between look at someoneâs eyes and looking AT them. Looking through someoneâs eyes and seeing their soul, their feelings, their thoughts. Phil was looking at Danâs soul then. And Dan looked back at Philâs.
âIâm sorry.â Dan whispered, his eyes leaking. âI hope youâll forgive me.â
âOh, Dan. Of course I will. I love you.â He launched himself at Dan, lips colliding and arms wrapping around each other naturally, as if they were supposed to be there.
Dan pulled back and pressed their foreheads together, a goofy grin on his face.
âI love you too.â

Hui watched the scene from a balcony, sighing in content as she watched Dan and Phil kiss. She cocked an eyebrow as Zoe and Alfie Deyes kissed, but smiled all the same. Sitting down on the floor of the balcony, she crossed her legs and pressed her face against the bars, smiling a sad smile. A tear slithered down her cheek and she sniffed, wiping her nose with her sleeve.
âHeyo.â
Hui turned her face to see Draco at the door of the balcony, hesitant to come closer in fear she might curse him. She turned back to look at the scene, not caring. Draco sighed behind her, and she saw him sit by her side out of the corner of her eye. His eyes bored holes at the side of her skull, but she ignored him, instead focusing on the students on flying who had enchanted their broomsticks to shoot rainbows behind them as they flew.
âHui. Please look at me.â No response. âPlease.â
Hui bit her lip and turned to face Draco, who had a desperate look on his face.
âLook, Iâm sorry. Itâs just dad and all the death eaters and all these people who think Iâm this complete monster and I just, canât.â He edged closer but Hui edged away, staring at her lap.
âIâm so sorry. Iâll try this time. I honestly will. I promise.â
âYou promised last time.â she whispered. âWhen you bullied Charlie. And before that Will. And before that Niomi. You canât keep doing this. Promising, and promising but not keeping to those promises. If youâre not keeping your promises, why do you make them?â
âI-I donât know.â
âIâm sorry about your dad, Draco. I really am. But if this keeps happening, then I donât think I can be friends with you anymore.â
âNo, Hui.â Draco reached for her hand, but she pulled away, biting her lip. âI will, honestly try this time. Honest. And if I donât, well, you can do anything you want to me. If I failed you again, I wouldnât care about anything anymore.â
Huiâs eyes were red and her cheeks were wet. She looked up, smiling.
âThereâs that boy I met all those years ago.â she whispered, and she leaned her head against his shoulder. Draco wrapped his arm around her waist, and Hui didnât flinch away. They stayed there, like that, until the bell went, forcing them to pull apart.
âTruce?â
âTruce.â Hui agreed, and they went their separate ways. Hui smiled to herself, and joined her friends, all of them smiley and happy.
âSo,â Dan began, slinging an arm around her and Phil with Hui slinging her arm around Zoe to join them all together in one big chain.
âWhatâs next?â
TO BE CONTINUED.
