π Whatβs something small they did as a child that hinted at who theyβd become?
there are several aspects of indra's childhood that carry through to her adult life. she continues to find joy in cooking, embroidering, and gardening when she allows herself to do so. however, those are not entirely relevant to who she chooses to be currently. given the context of her present position, and the nature of her work, the earliest indication that she was capable of great adaptability and persistence was her skill at hunting. her father taught her how to track animals through dense woodlands without being seen or heard. he taught her the value of patience. he taught her to be mindful of her surroundings, to use the environment to her advantage, whether that be through creativity and resourcefulness when laying traps, or simply using environmental clues to piece together the route game typically follow through brush and foliage. the context has shifted significantly-- now, instead of forests, indra sneaks through servers. instead of game, indra hunts data, communications, financial records, scandals, databases, specimens, people, etc.. indra's father laid the groundwork for pattern recognition and quick, decisive action. it was incredibly useful during GenoStart's training. she's ashamed of how something so precious to her is now twisted into something so far removed from the values she was being raised by.
π½οΈ What meal do they cook when they need to feel like themselves again?
while indra refuses to recreate dishes of her past, she still enjoys the process of cooking. the recipes she uses are usually found online or through cookbooks she's purchased. if she is feeling particularly worn down, she prefers a hearty, savory, and warm dish to replenish energy and soothe frayed nerves. one of her favorites is a simple beef stew--- the broth/gravy is savory, the beef has a satisfying texture, the potatoes are starchy and comforting, and carrots and onions provide some fiber and vitamins. it isn't the healthiest of meals, admittedly, but it is comforting. she is also partial to japanese curry. it's similar to a beef stew, but with the flavor of curry powder/garam masala. it's rich and warm and gives her the dopamine hit she craves after feeling exhausted and disconnected.
π§οΈ What kind of weather matches their soul?
indra's soul, despite who she has had to become, is warm, self assured, and sprightly. a bright, sunny day would match it well. she may intentionally obscure herself with a dense fog, but beneath it is sunshine that will never be dimmed, despite how she tries.
π§Έ Do they still have a childhood comfort object? Where is it now?
yes. before indra left her village, she gathered a few items, mostly just survival supplies, but specifically took two things that had too much personal value to leave behind. she took a handkerchief that her mother embroidered for her. it's a pattern of sunflowers, bumblebees, leaves, and vines that have indra's initials woven into them. she carries it with her wherever she goes--- it's just practical. definitely not sentimental. the second item she took was her mother's recipe book. she loved cooking with her mother. she loved her mother's food. she did not want to forget the recipes she had taught her (even though indra could not read when she took it initially). now though, she has a complicated relationship with her history. indra tries to pretend she does not have a past--- that nothing had ever happened to her, that she never had a family and never lost them. at the same time, however, she clings so tightly to the pain of losing them. her mother's recipe journal stays in her closet. she knows exactly where it is, but refuses to cook from it. truthfully, she is afraid of what revisiting such vivid childhood memories would do to her, so she avoids it. maybe after some healing she'll be able to go through it, maybe even cook something from it, but until then... she just keeps it safe.
