It might be free but....
As I write this, I have gone through a range of emotions today but now I feel compelled to tell you all this, stay well clear of gumtree or any other site selling dogs or just about any other animal, not just selling but free too, we made this mistake last night, if something is free it is to good to be true. After wanting a new younger dog for sometime, we have a seventeen year old collie and wanted her to teach the young one, we had been searching the ads for unwanted animals and struck lucky with a gorgeous four year old Staffordshire bull terrier, even better for free!! (Before you roll your eyes, we have had some close dealings with SBT and they have only ever been lovely, so we wasnt worried) however, on getting him home I started to get a bad feeling, I couldn't place it but it was there. After a long walk, we came back and the staff started to show his aggression towards our old lady, we just thought he was trying to show whose boss, late this afternoon we went walking with a friend, the staff then plunged his teeth into another dog and bit our friend in the hussle of getting the two dogs apart, blood was shed and it was awful. But what made me mad, no one cared, rspca, dogs trust, police, battersea dogs home, we didn't know what to do, we did end up going to battersea and leaving him there, we were scolded by the two girls on the desk for being so stupid, after spending four hours trying to sort the mess out, I didn't really need to be told how stupid we were, I already knew that! What made it worse, 'the chip' wasnt even registered to the woman I got it from last night!! So now lovely little ceaser is on death row, the friend has puncture marks and stitches and all we have been left with is a huge lesson, not to buy/free anything like this from gumtree or any other site like this, you have no come back and I only think the saving grace was we didn't pay for him, at least we didn't pay for the privilege of having him less than twenty four hours. If you want an animal. Go through the proper channels, get receipts, do your research, I think another thing that has come out of this, a dangerous dog has been taken off our streets.
