Kelsey decided he might have a problem. He had his three monsters as his companions, Toro, Joline and now Bailey who sat happily in the hood of his coat at the moment; and yet... Here he was in front of Barley’s Animal Shop.
He thinks it’s because he felt lonely at times, or maybe he didn’t want such sweet creatures to be alone like him.
Whatever the reason was, he entered the shop and located the pets, before glancing to the side. In a small corner a sign read “Rare pets”. Kelsey approached cautiously, seeing puppies and birds there. Nothing that looked too out of the ordinary to him but in the middle, on a podium, was an egg. Or at least it looked like an egg, overtaken with gray scales. Kelsey felt a thump in his chest and before he knew what he was doing, the egg was in his hands and he was heading for the counter.
“Excuse me, M-Miss...” He muttered softly, holding the egg up over the counter since only his head and shoulders were visible over the tall counter.
“W-what is this, exactly? It looks like a-an Egg, but... Weird.” Bailey peeked out at the woman over my shoulder, chattering softly.
The day I returned from inpatient therapy, my Lab-Chow mix cuddled up to me on the bed as I cried. She looked into my defeated gaze and licked my tears. I was astounded that this creature was capable of the empathy that I so craved in my closest friends and relatives. It was like she could read the pathetic and sad thoughts that disabled me and wanted me to know I was lovable in the midst of my suffering.
