There is a method to every writer’s madness. There’s a tune that plays when ink hits the page. Perhaps ironically, the song to Caradoc’s journal has no words at all. Music is the writing’s driving force from the soft beats that swell and flow, creating an array of emotions to experience. That is writing to him. The ballad created on the page just is just as beautiful as the instruments that inspire it.

Herp de Derp;; The Gregory Brothers 

Goofy isn’t the word to describe Caradoc. It’s derpy. The kind of gentle, can’t help but make you smile and laugh along with him derpy. This song is a calling to all those who prescribe to this description and begging those who deny this part of themselves to find and embrace it. Without knowing it, his two left feet that walk into walls and trip over nothing are the leaders of anyone willing to join him. As long as they’re ready to laugh while doing so.

When You Say Nothing at All;; The Hound + The Fox

There are many stories that show how confusing love can be. It’s true that Caradoc doesn’t entirely understand his intense emotions but she’s his best friend and can’t imagine loving anyone more than her. It’s the best love he could dream of having. Simply sitting with her, reading her face, knowing what she’s feeling without two words being spoken and just reveling in each other’s company is what true love is for him. Laying down next to her and falling asleep, waking up to their hands touching and a light smile crossing their faces -- that’s the love that will get them through. And it’s when nothing is said at all.

Youth and joy are not lost on Caradoc but that doesn’t mean sadness and despair don’t touch his life. He accesses these emotions but does so in a healthy way. He let’s himself feel the bitter pill that is loneliness but then looks outside himself to the world he loves so much. Even with the world in shambles, he sees how he can help and what he can bring to the table, thus bringing his healing internal as well. He sometimes needs a Peter Pan to remind him of the good there is but he also gladly takes the role of Peter Pan to heart for those in need.

Caradoc is always wandering, always in the way and always taking his time. He does this because everything, big and small, are beautiful. He finds beauty in everything. That beauty transcends what is traditionally thought of as beauty. He believes everything and everyone contains some spark and it’s that spark that is happiness. It’s all about taking the time to see it.

Hey Jude;; The Beatles 

If there were a song dedicated to the Hufflepuff house, this would be it. Hey Jude was written to cheer up a little boy who was going through a messy divorce. He was told to “take a sad song and make it better”. That’s what Caradoc lives for. The world isn’t perfect -- especially the one he finds himself in now -- but there’s always a way to make it better. There’s always a way to lift your voice.

A dream of Caradoc’s is to travel. He vows that will go as far as he can and then some. Circumstances given what they currently are he knows it’s some time coming but it gives him something to look forward to. When the skies clear, he’s going to hit the road running so he can explore and share his findings with a world that will hopefully listen.

There’s a reason Poppy wears pigtails and bright clothing. It’s her way of not growing up. She was expected to grow up so early on in life, had so many expectations put on her that she felt she didn’t have much time to play so she plays dress-up everyday. Although it’s a hard barrier to get through, Poppy has an innate childlike quality to her. And if anyone dared touch her legos, she would make sure they step on one.

An anthem that Poppy can do anything no matter who tries to knock her down. She truly believes in herself and that she’s capable of anything life throws at her but also is aware that there are people in the world who are going to challenge that. This song is a power anthem that screams no to a world that wants to destroy everything she fights for.

Poor Poppy. She doesn’t know how to open herself up to the outside world. She grew up in a militant home. Rules, direction, expectations, order -- these were some of the only things she’s ever known. Because of that, she sticks to those beliefs but to an extreme so much so that she’s isolated herself and doesn’t know how to get out of the box she’s fixed herself in. She wouldn’t ever change her intelligence and determination but if she understood it was possible to have success in multiple areas of her life, she wouldn’t be so misunderstood by others, but more importantly, herself.

When no one is watching, Poppy will blast music and sing at the top of her lungs without caring about whether or not it’s perfect. She spins and uses her hairbrush as a microphone and squeezes her eyes so tight all she can see are stars dancing with her. It’s the time for her to let loose and be silly without worrying about being judged. Her muscles loosen and she’s nothing but smiles. It’s a heaven she shares only with herself. For now.

Poppy puts on a hard face. She makes it seem like nothing can break her. While she’s a force to reckoned with in many arenas, she hides the fact that she can feel pain. She knows how to put on the face everyone expects of her, hard-pressed and sticking to the book, but what she doesn’t let them see is the loneliness she feels when harsh words are thrown at her. She doesn’t tell anyone she cries in the shower. If she can’t handle the fact that she can break like anyone else can, then she refuses to show it to the rest of the world.

Relationships are the last thing Poppy ever thought about. She didn’t understand the want for a significant other. She could appreciate how people looked but that’s as far as it ever went. Having to put the time and energy into a romantic relationship would just get in the way of her being successful. But then something happened in the Restricted Section of the library that will continue to confuse her, but once she starts seeing what something special might look like, she’ll want to bring that person to the world.

Anyone would willingly say that Poppy is moody. She has a habit of showing displeasure, disgust, disappointment and spurts of anger. It’s rare that she shows her loving side, the side that genuinely cares but that’s how she was raised. She has a wide range on emotions built up inside her that don’t know how to come out properly. But as her years have progressed, there have been a few people who have seen her compassion and her tears. She is slowly learning to embrace the fact that life is an array of feelings instead of the few she was allowed to show at home. But she will blossom and be able to fully embrace them for the world to see once she has a grasp of it herself.

while these mock exams might have very little impact on our characters final grades, they might have an impact on their academic confidence so why not explore the scholastic strengths and weaknesses of the students at hogwarts with an optional tie in task!

                                            House Point Challenge #1

Yes folks! You heard right. It’s time for our first House Point Challenge since our wonderful revamp!

An oldie, but a goldie- we are asking you to supply us with a EIGHT song playlist for your character. Only this time, there is a twist. We want to see songs which give you your muse for your character! What makes them tick? What gets your creative juices flowing?

The task is simple, with 5 points being awarded to each character’s houses.

Those with multiple characters get 5 points for the first playlist they create then 2 points for each subsequent playlist created.
