This place doesn’t really need any more publicity. From the celebrity chefs of today: Ludo Lefebvre, Vinny Dotolo, and Jon Shook, Petit Trois is one of their collaboration restaurants in LA 

and unlike their brother restaurant Trois Mec, you don’t need a ticket to get in. 

You drive up to this little old strip mall (be careful not to park in the “French Only” parking space) and walk into a little hole in the wall, except it is anything but. It’s a hallway of a restaurant/bar with bar seats lining a wall and the kitchen on either side. There are no reservations. You go on a hope and a prayer that they have some room for you (hint: if you go at around 3 there is usually plenty of available seats). 

The concept is simple. Seemingly simple is the concept. 

There is a small simple menu and a short simple cocktail list and of course a large wine list. 

I’ve only been to this joint twice but it’s already a favorite. Butter. Bread. Cheese. Mustard. Omelettes. Alcohol. Need I say more? 

My heart belongs to the Omelette, this with some bread and butter is all I need in my life. It’s just simply perfect. 

We had this chicken special once, it was one of Chef Ludo’s “family” recipes. It was tender, the flavors were deep, the skin was crispy, it was comfort on a plate. Unfortunately we ate is so fast that there was no time to take a good picture of it. Sorry, not sorry. 

What makes this place so wonderful is its ability to be comforting, intimate, fun, and absolutely delicious all at once. But wait... the chocolate mousse...

Ambiance: Small bar where you get the feeling “everyone knows your name” 

Vegetarian: there’s always something vegetarian friendly, but vegans... uhh... no. If you don’t love butter with the fierceness of a thousand fiery suns than you are not welcome here! No! (I mean there might be something vegan friendly but is it worth it? Eh, you can always stick to the cocktails while your friends feast). 

How far would I travel to eat here: I’de drive the hour and half just to go eat there right now!
