1. Keep Chapstick and lipstick with you, in your pockets or your socks or your scars, so it looks like you’re put together; so it looks like your lips aren’t torn to shreds and still scabbing. 2. Keep your nails painted so they can’t see your torn cuticles and the blood beneath them. 3. Keep boots in your locker, with your pills tucked inside, so when they think it’s coins or keys rattling along, you won’t have to tell them it’s the meds and the bones in harmony. Keep the boots, canvas moves too easily when you’re shaking all the time. 4. Keep a working pen laced between your fingers and another in your socks so when you want to bleed, and never scab, or brand, but never fly away like ash, you won’t be titled as having “destructive behavior”. 5. Keep one earbud out so you’ll know when your struggle for breath is reaching the volume of the burning stares etched into your scalp. 6. Keep gum tucked into your side and into your eye sockets so the fragrance of your burning cries and your rotting insides will be masked by mint and cinnamon and you’ll seem put together. 7. Keep your fingernails sharp so when they’re ruthless, you can be merciless and dig your nails into their throats and whisper about the hell you live until blood beads on their skin. 8. Keep your teeth daggered and your tongue sharp so when their blood beads, you can send them to heaven. 9. Keep canvas with you always, so you can document the way you want to bleed and not scab, brand and not fall with the wind as ashes do.
