It was a big deal for Mary, coming to something like this. In fact, she couldnât remember the last time she had. It was big and scary and one sister had been encouraging her to put herself out there while the other was mourning a close friend. Someone Mary was friends with too. Someone whom Mary knew had been killed by magic, though her sisters had little idea that things were that bad.
The comfort was her friends and they were also her motivator. The few she had seen recently had made her realise just how much she missed them, and how much she missed out on when she went through those periods of not wanting to see anybody and turning down invitation after invitation. Of course, standing inside the manor surrounded by all sorts of people: those who hated her, those who had hurt her, those who didnât know her but might want her dead anyway, and all of them masked make her feel anxious all over again. She stepped closer to Peter and started muttering mostly under her breath to stop herself from backing out, though he could definitely hear her. âI can do this. Itâll be fine. We were Gryffindors.â Though it was never fun knowing she was in the same room as Mulciber and both Averys.
