Digital Detritus Dover 2011 – Peter Root
Digital Detritus Dover is part of an on-going series of digital installations situated in Google Earth. DDD was created by building 3d digital models and locating and animating them in Google Earth using KML code. The soundtrack was created using a well known song about the white cliffs of Dover.

Peter Root’s creation entitled Ephemicropolis, is a city consisting of skyscrapers and office buildings made entirely out of staples! 100,000 staples to be precise.
Thousands and thousands of staples are stacked on top of each other to form the downtown part of the city. The UK artist’s installation took over 40 hours to complete.

'Low Rise' by Peter Root Low-Rise is a precarious assemblage of thousands of free-standing stacks of staples densely tessellated to create a city-like mosaic. Like a city, the staples are subject to the elements, on a micro scale. The slightest breath or vibration and the domino effect kicks in.

Ephemicropolis - Peter Root Stacks of staples were broken into varying sizes from full stacks about 12cm high down to single staples. These stacks were then stood up and arranged over a period of 40 hours.
So sorry to hear about the death of these two adventurers. I hope that they would never have regretted a thing though, they were living a life that most people are too afraid to.
