       𝐇𝐞  𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝  𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥  𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐤’𝐬  𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬  𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧  𝐡𝐢𝐦;   hear  the  confused  thoughts  as  his  beloved  friend  and  sometimes  caretaker  watched  him  with  growing  interest.  Charles  supposed  Hank  had  every  right  to  be  confused.  After  all,  when  was  the  last  time  he  saw  the  telepath  do  much  of  anything  for  himself?  Being  in  a  goddamned  wheelchair  made  cooking  for  himself  rather  difficult.  He  could  barely  reach  the  stove  but  thanks  to  Hank’s  cure,  there  was  no  need  to  fret  about  it  anymore.  Standing  before  the  stove  with  his  back  to  Hank,  Charles  was  dressed  in  a  long,  red  robe  ---  a  clean  one  at  that  ---  frying  bacon  and  making  grits  with  eggs  to  follow  shortly.  His  long,  messy  hair  no  longer  looked  greasy.  It  had  been  washed,  though  he  still  hadn’t  bothered  to  shave  or  anything.  Baby  steps.  He  had  no  reason  to  look  pretty  for  anyone  these  days  so  he  wasn’t  going  to  try  too  hard.  At  any  rate,  he  continued  flipping  bacon  and  moved  only  once  to  grab  a  pan  from  another  pantry.  With  the  oven  hot  now,  he  could  make  ready  to  prepare  some  toast.  This  would  be  the  first  time  he’s  actually  eaten  a  decent  breakfast  in  months,  though  not  from  lack  of  trying  on  Hank’s  part.  He  tried  often  to  take  care  of  Charles,  but  he  was  right  stubborn.  Honestly,  Charles  had  no  idea  why  Hank  didn’t  just  leave  like  the  rest  of  the  lot,  but  he  figured  that  was  probably  a  mystery  best  left  unsolved.  

       Once  he  moved  the  finished  bacon  off  the  hot  eye,  he  turned  with  his  pan,  reaching  for  the  bread  loaf.  He  met  Hank’s  gaze,  but  only  briefly  as  he  placed  a  few  pieces  of  bread  on  the  pan.  Reaching  for  the  butter  and  knife,  he  finally  spoke,  his  voice  quiet  and  in  a  tone  Hank  hadn’t  heard  in  a  long  time.

All he could taste was copper, and he wanted to gag, or be sick. There wasn’t even a lot of pain in the actual wound, just so much blood. He felt extremely filthy, feeling the blood down his chin and staining his shirt, his wounded cheek also bleeding. God, none of them were doctors, was one of them going to attempt to stitch it up?

Eddie had no idea if he should keep his hand over his cheek, or try to catch any blood still escaping his mouth. Beverly had ran to find the closest first kit aid (he highly doubted there was anything in a typical kit for this kind of injury) so he was left with Ben. Brown eyes watched the other man, almost feeling like a child as he waited. Bowers had obviously gotten away, how a man does that with a knife in his chest, Eddie had no idea. He had a knife in his face and walked away so.. that was something.

Jesus, he must be worse off than Bill had anticipated. “No kidding, b-buddy,” he soothed, as he placed both hands on the taller man’s shoulder’s trying to ground him in reality. “I nuh-know we’re about the same h-height and every-everything, but the similarities end th-there.” Bill gave Ben a sympathetic smile. “Wanna t-tell me what happened?”

     A cigarette balanced between two bony fingers, words hardly even having processed in her mind before a soft   𝐇 𝐔 𝐅 𝐅   parted her lips. Helga silenced herself by taking another drag from said cigarette, straightening her back first before trying to find something to reply to his observation. They sounded nice, but no longer was she one with her head in the clouds                               she had learned not to, the   𝐇 𝐀 𝐑 𝐃   way.

      “Oh, Ben... ben... ben. ben....” IT giggles, head dipped so large eyes could look up towards the other with amusement, red painted lips tugged up in an awful smile, “... all need to do is just give in... just come to me... you’d be so much happier.”
