Yusuke first met the three of them, including Kuwabara, as opponents who should be defeated. However, through the many battles fought alongside them, they've gradually become irreplaceable and close friends to Yusuke.

Atsuko (practically friends)
He lives with Atsuko, but seems not to meet his father. The ideal would be for them to have a drink and laugh together someday?

Raizen (an opponent to overcome)
The mazoku father of the Demon World who suddenly appeared before Yusuke. They were more like fighting pals, rather than a parent-child relationship.

The tense relationship with Yomi has eased somewhat thanks to Yusuke. Will he never willingly meet Yomi again in the future?
T/N: This databook is based on the manga. At the end of the anime, Kurama and Yomi make amends during the Makai Tournament. However, in the manga, Kurama returns to the Human World soon after he loses to Kujou in the third round. So, we don't know if he ever spoke to Yomi again, nor what became of their relationship.

Without any fellows, Hiei has lived a solitary life in the Demon World, however after his encounter with Yusuke, a "connection" is born around him. Will he continue to be Yusuke and the others' rival for a long time?

He first met them as enemies, but through the battles of the Four Saint Beasts and the Dark Tournament, they have built a solid bond as comrades in arms. It does not mean that he always get along well with them, but there is a connection at a fundamental level in their relationship.

Yukina (watches over her)
They reunited safely, but he hasn't come forward to introduce himself as her older brother. However, albeit vaguely, Yukina may be getting an inkling of it...?
【Master】
Shigure (physician in charge)
Performed the evil's eye transplant surgery. Hiei lost his demon power and Shigure became his swordsmanship master. They met again in the Mukuro Army and dueled, but it ended in a draw.
【Comrade】
Mukuro (empathy)
Initially, they approached for mutual benefit purposes, but after sharing their pasts, on the occasion of the duel with Shigure, they've become special to each other.

Mistreated by his family (T/N: Shizuru? lol), beaten up by Yusuke...Kuwabara is not having a very good time. However, the trio Sawamura, Kirishima and Okubo seem to strongly admire and respect Kuwabara, addressing him by the suffix "san" even though they are classmates.
T/N: Kuwabara's friends call him "Kuwabara-san" (桑原さん). The honorific suffix "san" (Mr/Ms) is a polite way to address one another and also shows a sense of respect. It's more common among young boys, specially classmates, to use the honorific suffix "kun". We can notice how his friends truly respect him. Kuwabara is kind of a leader for them.
【Fellows】
Yusuke (eternal rival)
A rival that he must overcome someday. No matter what kind of opponents appear, he believes that he is Yusuke's greatest opponent.
Kurama (teammate) and Hiei (makes him nervous, but he also trusts)
Comrades who he has grown to trust through battles. In particular, he seems to have built a good relationship with Kurama, as they study together at the library and such.
【Sweetheart】
Yukina (adoration)
Kuwabara's loved one. He is completely ignorant of the fact that she is Hiei's younger sister.
【Family】
Shizuru (they're probably on good terms?)
The older sister, an aspiring hairdresser who has a higher psychic ability than her younger brother.
Father
Kuwabara's father, nonchalantly, is very familiar with the situation. Occupation unknown. Cheerful.
T/N: Kuwabara's father is aware about the existence of the Spirit and Demon Worlds.
Eikichi
A domestic cat that Kuwabara, an unparalleled cat lover, is literally petting (dotes on it).
T/N: the Japanese expression "neko kawaigari" literally means "to pet a cat", but it's an expression used to say you dote on someone.
【Classmates】 (trusted friends)
Sawamura
Kuwabara's tsukkomi. He has the most lines out of the three.
T/N: In owarai (Japanese comedy), the tsukkomi is generally the smarter and more reasonable of the comedy duo. In America, tsukkomi is known as the "straight man". When a comedy partner behaves eccentrically, the "straight man" is expected to maintain composure.
Kirishima
One of Kuwabara's friends whose grades and appearance are not so bad, like those of a delinquent.
T/N: Kirishima scored 52 points (out of 100) in the science test, while Sawamura scored 45 points, Okubo 39 points, Kuwabara 7 points, and Yusuke 12 points.
Ōkubo
A hard-working man who works part-time to help support his family with many siblings.
T/N: Although he's still in the 2nd year of middle school, Okubo has a special permit from the Sarayashiki Junior High to work part-time.

The boss and his subordinate in the Spirit World.
After becoming Yusuke's assistant, it seems that Botan temporarily returns to the Spirit World less and less.
T/N: Just a fun fact, Togashi replied in a WSJ Q&A (1994) that Ayame is still studying and is Botan's junior.
【Friends】 (good friends)
Keiko, Atsuko and Shizuru
These are the irreplaceable friends that she met in the Human World through Yusuke. Even after the unification of the Demon World, they seem to be hanging out together in the Human World.
【Partner】 (a good pal)
Yusuke
A friend to whom she can talk about trivial matters, beyond the work boundaries of spirit detective and assistant.
I also translated Botan's "personality", because I found it interesting. I don't agree that Botan makes many mistakes at work. I think the only time Koenma complained about her talking too much and giving away secret info, was when she told Keiko and the others about the Dark Tournament and he had to brought them with him :P
【Personality】
"Ferrygirl of the Sanzu River, Botan-chan."
Botan, always light-hearted and playful, never seems worried. She makes quite a lot of mistakes at work, often blurting things out, and babbling out important information...However, her cheerfulness more than make up for it, and she follows up on her mistakes. If Kuwabara is the mood maker for Yusuke and the guys, Botan is the mood maker for Keiko and the girls.
T/N: In Japanese, the expression "mood maker" is used for people who enliven the atmosphere and lift the mood of others.
↑ Whenever she gets a chance to poke fun at Yusuke, she won't miss it! (volume 2, tankoubon, p.107)
↑ When she can't evade a subject anymore, she says something like that, and makes a cat face to move on to other topic. (volume 6, tankoubon, p.09)
