I absolutely adore your coloring style, your colors pop so beautifully off the page. Do you have any favorite pieces that you think really show off how you purposefully use color to explore character?
thank you so so much... this is such an awesome question also but regretfully, i dont think i can provide an equally as impressive answer :'3
you've made me realize that i actually dont put as much thought into color in relation to [storytelling] as i should. At least not really in my illustrations (char design is a different story tho *badumtss?*)
i developed a basic understanding of color theory and how to make generally appealing color palettes, and as i developed my go-to colors, i primarily became concerned with just being able to consistently Not Butcher My Drawings With An Ugly Color Palette. i understand how to use it to convey mood/tone, but i havent truly attempted to use color to explore character
that being said.... i think this piece comes close to me consciously trying to do something in this vein. kinda. kinda? though in this case it would be about the omission of color in lieu of fake transparent background.
the creature^ is a colorful guy. so i had to figure out how to depict [The Void Of Some Kind] without it just feeling like i slapped a color on there for colors sake. so i went with fake transparent...because of the association that that grid = nothing. after reflecting and staring at this Im alread seeing a stronger way to communicate what i was going for,,, maybe i will do it in another piece
bluh anyway thank you for the really thought provoking ask, i want to put more thought into color moving forward now
