I'm an Office Manager, Social Media person and IT Manager- trained in life coaching and with an educational background in sustainability, worker empowerment, and entrepreneurship.
I've worked in quite a few different environments over the past 12 years. The quality of my personal life- the openness of my communication with friends and family, more empowered relationships, and a keener alignment to values & mission- have inspired me to view working life with an eye towards improvement.
I've come up with an organized system of thoughts that I'm hoping might turn into a book. A systematic, participative, consistent & inclusive approach towards our emotional, human sides is what our current business models are lacking. Work, after all, can be seen as a network of interpersonal relationships. I argue that we have been taking some of these relationships for granted, instead of nurturing them.
In this economy, we simply must question reality; we cannot afford to be arrogant.
An Introduction to Emotions & Higher Purpose at Work
Work- how it takes place? It is a constant negotiation btwn self, other, organization
It is a way to learn lessons about life, ourselves and each other
Is your firm working for your ego? Are we working for self-development, or the good of the organization?
Communication & Attitude Bottlenecks of Societal Expectation
"I only want to help you when I want to help you" -selfish attitudes lead to task slowdown
Blaming, judgmental NIMBYism @ work- "I don't want to help you because you should know this already"
Our economy is built on pushing people to limits- & sublimation of real human needs
Unacknowledged Emotions & "passive aggression" are an invisible drag on efficiency
Emotions are assets of creativity and pointers to inequality
Corporate micromanaging and legalistic attitude leads to stagnation
A culture of competition & bullying leads to 'emo.' burnout.
The double standards for codes of conduct along the hierarchy (personhood vs. entitlement) lead to massive confusion
New Systems Facilitating Expansion
The new social media landscape subverts hierarchy & corporate culture as it presses for transparency & unity within organizations
Proper Social media utilization requires equality, inclusion & absolute alignment
We need an attitude toward hopeful expansion- more focusing on visioning, mission, ideals
Valuation of mistakes & conflict- learning opportunities in communication
Autonomy leads to innovation; a liberated person has access to all resources of whole self;
Setting proper personal boundaries at work; self-care for human(e)sustainability- knowing how to say "No"
Developing an organizational strengths-based coaching & mentoring approach
Universally understood, participant-enhanced communications systems liberate people into personal striving & meritocratic competition
Back Toward A Better Future- New Models based on Classical Norms
Personal Development lead to Organizational Development- and Societal Evolution
The notion of Stewardship, Servant Leadership, caretaking
Walk your talk- integrity & responsibility- the return of the cult of personhood
Artificial & inflated hierarchy contradicts smooth business flow; humility is lubrication in all walks
Accommodation of diversity of skills & backgrounds- human capital/ talent acquisition approach - leads to stronger long-term stability & continual growth
Intergenerational conflict, hierarchy, & democracy- diversity of origins & backgrounds (5 generations currently) can be a confusing world.
The return of valued higher standards- integrity, honesty, and The Golden Rule- can unite all the generations together.
A culture of continual learning necessitates traditional qualities of humility, respect, personal responsibility, authenticity.
