(Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I took a few days off to focus on getting my life in order for the next bit, but now I'm back :)) Persephone is the Goddess of Spring, Curses, Passage to Elysium, Necromancy, Spirits, the Erinyes and Grain, she's also the Queen of the Underworld, as the Goddess of Spring, she is usually titled as Kore(Maiden), but after her marriage to Hades, her name changed to Persephone, which is thought to translate to "Bringer of Detsruction". Prayer to Persephone for hard times
This prayer was written by me, and is part of a series of prayers to recite when going through rough times. Everyone is going through the ringer right now, given the state of everything, so hopefully this can help you get through some tough things too. Enjoy!
Praise be to Lady Persephone, queen of the underworld,
Wife of stalwart Hades and daughter of bountiful Demeter,
Fair maiden and fearsome queen in equal measure,
And hear me from your place in Hades/Your Mother’s Arms*
As I call out to you from a place of anguish!
You, O generous queen of Hades,
You who allow the dead to visit the living,
Who comforts the grieving as they weep,
Are a most beautiful goddess with the most charitable heart,
And for this, we mortals find comfort in your arms
Both before we pass into your realm and after.
You are the kind caretaker of the dead,
O gentle mistress of the dearly departed;
You represent change in all its forms,
Transitions within life and after it,
From maiden to bride, queen to daughter, and self to spirit,
And so I ask you to kindly guide me through these trials I face,
To take me by the hand and usher me down a different path.
May your sweet words clear away my despair and fear,
May your lovely visage remind me of the joys found in both life and death,
And may I never forget that it is always a gift to be alive,
That everyone has something to offer in this world,
And that I feel compelled to live my life to the fullest,
Even when it feels impossible.
I pray, bestow your blessings upon me,
O fair queen Persephone,
And conscript the help of your husband Lord Hades
And your mother, O loving Demeter,
So that I may find a better path
Which I can walk down in peace.
Praise the great goddess Persephone,
The queen of all who brings forth flowers!

🌺 Persephone Epithets 🌺
Adhara's post introduction: Hello Lovebugs! I decided to start a series where I show you all Epithets from the Greek Gods! I will focus on Epithets that aren't that much talked about, and their meanings! Hope you all like it!!
Ænódios: by the way-side or at cross-roads, for it was at these places that statues of her and Ækáti (Hecate) would be found.
Agní: holy, pure.
Dǽspina: mistress, princess, queen.
Dáeira: she who knows.
Mákaira: blessed, happy (an Epithet which other Goddess can use it!)
Pótnia: mistress, queen.
Potheiní: beloved.
Sæmní: holy, revered.
Sóhteira: savioress, deliverer, she who helps.
Viodóhtis: life-giving.
Vrimóh: The epithet is usually interpreted as meaning something like "the terrible one" or "the angry one", but perhaps it is actually derived from βριμάζω, which can be interpreted as like: "roaring like a lion".
It is important to remind you all that Persephone is not only the Goddess of Spring and the Queen of Underworld. But Persephone is also the Goddess of:
- PERSEPHONE GODDESS OF ELYSIUM & REINCARNATION:
ᯓᡣ𐭩: This is a telling mostly linked with Persephone's myth of when Hades seized her, specifically the part of Persephone having returned and Demeter bringing fruits back in spring.
- GODDESS OF NECROMANCY & GHOSTS:
ᯓᡣ𐭩: Haides and Persephone presided over the oracles of the dead and the rites of necromancy (nekromankia)--summoning and communion with the ghosts of the dead. These are mentioned also in Odysseus journey; the Cumaean Sibyl guiding Aeneas through the underworld by means of the Oracle of the Dead near Cumae; In Statius' Thebaid the seer Teiresias performs necromancy to commune with the dead to discover the cause of a curse-plague afflicting the city of Thebes and also Witches, such as Medea, were practitioners of the necromancy. Medea employs this chthonic power in a spell to restore Aeson's youth.
- GODDESS OF CURSES & MISTRESS OF THE ERINYES:
ᯓᡣ𐭩: Persephone was the mistress of the Erinyes (Furies)--underworld daimones who punished the crimes of filial betrayal, impiety and murder. She despatched them when curses were invoked in her name.
