We would like to give our great thanks to one of our reliable workhorses inside Project Odin for this analysis of the PCU and ultimately its consequences for RP on Argent Dawn.

Big Billy is a well known, one could say antique player from Argent Dawn's oldest times. We appreciate his input greatly as someone who has been around for even longer than we have has perspective that players today simply do not have on how things have changed.

Obvious throwaway account. I’ve been debating on making something like this for a while, because this is an issue that has been growing increasingly concerning every single time that something new happens in game. However I’ve been hesitant to actually post something about the topic I’m about to delve into. Why? There are several reasons. First and foremost, I’m not a person who lives for drama. I’m a very secluded person, who suffers from mental issues that I really won’t get into. I do not say this for sympathy points, I say this to make the point clear that drama is the very last thing that I want to get involved with. Secondly as this title suggests this is going to be about the PCU - a group that is very notorious for going to extreme lengths to harass and shit talk people that they deem as enemies. And lastly, well, this is all happening on EU servers. I was hesitant to bring up this topic because let’s face it, it won’t get as much attention as it would if this was happening on American servers. People generally do not care enough over here to do anything about this, and while it is extremely disheartening to see I figured I may as well speak my mind.

Apologies in advance for my rambling nature and the length of this post.

What is the PCU? This question has come up quite a lot on the Alliance side of the server, but for anyone who plays Horde even the mere mention of the name will get you nothing but praise from the people that align with them. To put it bluntly, the PCU (Perroy’s Cinematic Universe) is a collective group of people that follow an individual named Perroy, and as the name suggests, go around making guilds following this guy’s “guidelines” to roleplay on the server of Argent Dawn. And when I say they go around making guilds, I mean quite literally that as of the date of this posting they have 11 Horde guilds and 11 Alliance guilds that have the tag [PCU] in their guild names or descriptions. Every single time a new thing is introduced to the game you can bet that the PCU will make a guild about it. You want a guild full of Zandalari Trolls? Well of course they have a guild for that. Vulpera? Have to be the first guild on the server to have one of those too. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing mind you, they just also seem to have a monopoly of guilds that all sing about providing “quality roleplay to the server of Argent Dawn.” But don’t take my word for it. What’s the issue there you might ask? What’s so bad about wanting to provide a server full of people with quality roleplay?

The issue isn’t the goal that the PCU claims to strive towards, like I stated previously it isn’t necessarily a bad thing to have a guild full of trolls or vulpera or knight roleplayers. But the monopoly itself is one of the biggest issues of the server. Let’s say for example that for some reason you’ve done something to upset a member of the PCU. That member goes to complain to the rest of the guild, who then complains to the leader Perroy, and then suddenly your character is shunned from roleplaying with 20 - 30 other people in that guild. No big deal, you just go on to roleplay with someone else, right?

However, as one might have taken from the scenario, there is a major issue that stands out. Anyone who speaks out against the PCU are labeled as “Anti PCU” and are vilified in their community. A quick search on the EU Argent Dawn forums brings up plenty of PCU labeled topics, a majority of them promoting their army of guilds and going through the comments any one that has a problem with them are very quickly jumped on and are harassed there. And while that behaviour could be limited to the forums, unfortunately it is not. PCU members frequently go around in game “infiltrating” other guilds with their own members, spreading rumours and falsehoods about people that they do not like. And lord forbid you happen to enjoy ERP in the comfort OUTSIDE OF THE GAME. If a member even catches a whiff of you enjoying adult orientated content in roleplay in general, not just wow related, you are blacklisted. Period. Suddenly that character who was shunned just by one guild is shunned by two. Or three. Or five. And soon they find it difficult to find anything other than random walk up city roleplay.

Which in itself lies another issue. Since the PCU strives to make the entire server roleplay their way or the highway, they have frequent ‘raids’ on the two faction capitals of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Long time server roleplayers know about the infamous raid when the Void Elves were announced - there were mobs and in character lynchings against other player’s will, all for the sake of causing havoc and to express their disdain for the new race. These raids continue to this day, and while the PCU’s side of the argument is that “if you don’t like the roleplay then don’t show up to it”, their argument is impossible to accommodate to. There is simply no way for someone to ignore a massive faction wide roleplay in a major city hub when people are /y typing curse words and emotes. Even if you ignore one person doing it, two more will pop up doing the same thing. The only way to “not show up” is to avoid a major rp hub, which is one of the -only- rp hubs on the server.

Argent Dawn, known for being a roleplaying server, is one of the most difficult servers to roleplay on. People whom I’ve talked to simply do not wish to deal with the PCU so they either don’t RP anymore, or they leave to go somewhere else. And my main issue that I personally have with the PCU isn’t their vile comments, the reports on members being homophobic and racist, the complete narcissistic nature of Perroy or even the bullying and harassment the members do to players. It’s the complete and total lack of empathy from them. Every single argument made against them will be counter argued with “Just don’t ERP”, or “Just go somewhere else if you don’t like what we do.” Their complete lack of self awareness and self righteous gatekeeping on a game that they themselves have no rights to nor do any of them own is what gets to me. Again, I do not wish for drama. I don’t type all of this out to start shit with the PCU or to bring harassment upon their users. I type this because I, as a very tired almost thirty year old, am so sick of seeing the same shit over and over again while I’m in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. The PCU is a -legion- and members are loyal. For every person that has left, more people have joined. CoAD will be too cowardly to post this, but know that the PCU is still growing stronger despite the claims made here. I want you to know that -I- like many others will very much be going down with the ship if you ever did happen to succeed (which you will not). You will never drive us from this server and we won't bow down by choice.

It will only be a matter of time before we find out who you and your editors. We know you have agents within the PCU as well, both old and new - they are being hunted within renewed effort and will be discovered and blacklisted for abetting you. You have had nothing more than a few 'minor' victories CoAD - the war is on going and there is only room for one of us in the future of Argent Dawn.

Hold on, let us get the 'how to deal with an internet tough guy' textbook.

Firstly, how is losing five guilds in four months doing for you? We found it rather funny that even after Grim Gest, Cleft of Shadow and Ardent Pursuit merged with their opposite faction counterpart ( We thought neutral RP was bad! ) These guilds have continued to lose numbers rather than gain them.

More on the PCU census soon actually, keep an eye open sports fans.

The PCU is anything but legion and loyal. Considering a majority of our contributions come from members or ex members disaffected with what is happening. A failed vanity project with its founder now actively trying to pull people off WoW. Guild leaders and officers repeatedly shown to engage in threats of violence and being sex pests. "THREE HUNDRED MEMBERS STRONG" is now barely down to about 30 active members at any major PCU event, the size of a normal guild.

Twenty five failed guilds, of which twenty have gone dead since Perroy fell off the radar last year. Your guild leaders are insulating themselves or outright abandoning ship. Vitsaus nervously stops advertising his guild as PCU in trade chat, all of your elf guilds have imploded spectacularly. Talirei(Azure Dawn), Lunarglade(Eternal Sisterhood) have ran off to make pseudo-PCU guilds with their loyal followers (The Sunspear and House Bemoux respectively). Even the nominal leader of the PCU, Gruggosh has made an insurance guild on the Alliance as the Sword of Triumph.

We fully expect the likes of you (either Coalburnt or a Grim Gang stooge writing this) to go down with the ship in emulation of your primary inspiration. Der Untergang of the PCU is already inescapable at this point and the whole server knows, we're just watching and waiting for the last rants of the PCU 'Endsieg' to whimper out.

One of the most significant highlights of the PCU/Anti-PCU thread has been the appearance of Wrall, once a close confidant of Perroy and leader of the well known Highborne guild.

As someone who was intimately involved in the creation of the PCU itself, Wrall’s insights are staggeringly eye opening to the real reason Perroy decided to make the PCU in the first place. While in the past Wrall has made dubious statements and problematic comments, it appears that reality has made itself stronger upon him than Dear Leader and his officers of the PCU.

After eviscerating Tehya/Tehyani/Dorn for being exactly what they are, a wheeled in alt-poster troll, Wrall continues to explain how the PCU was created deliberately with the name in mind, a vanity project as correctly described.

Morsteth and Sathrynn however team up with the attempt to discredit Wrall’s insights. Sathrynn in true blundering fashion makes a truly gamer statement by claiming you need to have been inside the PCU to have an opinion, which is false, but tremendous amount of evidence we have had given to us has come from former PCU members themselves who have left. A clownish statement at best.

Wrall however retaliates with yet more damning insights into the PCU’s true origins. While acknowledging that Perroy’s grasp these days has started to slip (for reasons we are still debating in the CoAD team), Wrall explains plainly that the PCU was a creation out of the crippling need to bolster Perroy’s desire to control all RP around him. An inorganic and artificial creation designed to maximise the power one person could have over others.

Following on from the DELVE guild, our Discord representative had an extensive and fulfilling conversation with DELVE’s guild leader Northridge in the aftermath of the trashing and vandalism of their guild thread.

Another week, another attempt at taking down a community. What has been unfolding for the last few days is the attacking of a completely innocent and normal RP community, what is that we hear you say dear readers? Yes the PCU at it once again. As the eagle eyed may notice Northridge made the bold statement of making his guild one of, if not the very first, openly anti-PCU guilds on the server (something the Forlorn Order never tried to do). Of course their opposition immediately dragged in the PCU bigwigs after a short time, pulling their usual non-arguments out of the water. The true hysteria set in when one of DELVE’s members name-dropped Dear Leader’s actual name (something that by now is common knowledge) which the PCU reacted to in suitably melodramatic fashion, believing that a single name is grounds for harassment - despite not realising they have done much worse over the years (coming soon) to other players. Another prime hypocritical rule for me, rule for you situation.

PCU hardman Shewp (Coalburnt) made his way into the thread like the self-important stooge of Dear Leader, dutifully doing the heavy lifting against Northridge and his community in typical fashion. With the arrogance to attempt to diagnose other players in one hand and casual unsubstantiated claims in the other, he hypocritically attacked this community for doxxing when he himself has done it to several players before.

Northridge however is made of stronger stuff and was not put down by bullyboy tactics from the PCU, providing robust and no-nonsense replies to the standard PCU fare.

Not only that but other members of the community wade into the fray in support of DELVE and Northridge, offering very pertinent and quite simply honest remarks about the PCU’s conduct. In particular Ghortag makes an excellent point, the PCU has blacklists of people for all sorts of reasons, many completely innocuous, and still Dear Leader and his bullyboys want to complain at others doing the same for far more valid reasons.

The thread now has sadly, like many others degraded into a mindless hive of the PCU hanger-ons throwing buzzwords and memes at one another though one particular part that was rather amusing for us here at CoAD to look through was Shewp/Coalburnt’s unhinged attempts at pinning people’s alts down

Truly, if anyone, Shewp needs to get some help.

It has come to our attention that there was someone quite upset with our New Years countdown! Apparently CoAD is bad for highlighting and reminding our good readers here of the misdeeds of the worst of our fair server. As much as the likes of the PCU would love to hide away their neo-Nazi behaviour to put on a cleaner mask, they really can’t escape their past.

Which is why tomorrow we will be doing a deep dive into one of the most spectacular events in recent Argent Dawn history, one that has been furiously attempted to be hidden under sheets many times by Dear Leader and his horde of loyal hounds. Considering it is the 5th anniversary of the event we find appropriate to give it the correct recognition it deserves.
