With extreme measures implemented globally, we’re seeing the incredibly disruptive impact socially, economically, and environmentally. It seems it is a time for us to isolate, contemplate, and breathe. Mother Earth is breathing too, having a much needed break from all of our activities. The disruptive impact on the has been largely positive in regards to falls in emissions and air pollution. I hope that once this health crisis ebbs, our economic recovery will be a greener one, with incentives to move towards more care for the environment and climate resilience. Don’t forget, there is an incredible amount of beauty on our planet, and people who dedicate their lives to protecting it. I recently visited Permatree, an inspiring project in the SE of Ecuador, where the vision is to transform a region from one focused on mining to the cultivation of high end food products through regenerative farming. Nestled within volcanic tropical mountains, the soil is rich and nourishing. Just over the eastern mountain ridge, however, large scale mining has taken place, ravaging the environment to the point of extreme degradation. Benefits have not outweighed the costs; the people are still living in poverty but now their natural resources are greatly reduced, with increased pollution— particularly their water source. With the project set forth from Permatree, the aim is to positively transform the social, economic and environmental situation to benefit everyone in the area, including generations to come. And... they are currently expanding their team. They’re looking for professionals ranging from production managers, head of quality control, communications manager, to graphic designers. Permatree is located in the Ecuadorian Amazon — they’re at Permatree.org and superfoods.permatree.org • @permatree • #regenerativeagriculture #permatree #permaculture #airpollution #ecuador • “a US expert suggests that tens of thousands of premature deaths from air pollution may have been avoided by the cleaner air in China” far higher than the current death toll. • https://www.instagram.com/p/B94tgaHBIG1/?igshid=m9cdisyrft9m
