Prompt: Just a typical Thanksgiving in the Stark-Holmes household! [Rated PG-13 for one curse word.]
As always, it was a madhouse in the Stark-Holmes house on Thanksgiving. granted, it wasn't too bad yet since Amelia's family had yet to arrive, but both Hyperion and Amelia fully expected a busy day.
"Matthias! For the last time! Get off of that game and come help your sisters!" The Latina of the family yelled from her position in the kitchen, directing the comment to her ten-year-old son trying to shirk his holiday duties. She almost smirked when she heard his whining; almost.
"Mom, the tea is done." Johanna's soft voice piped up next to her. Amy cast a grateful smile to her eldest at fifteen.
"Thank you, sweetie. Just go sit it on the table for me, will you?" Jo gave a quick nod before leaving to do as asked. She was always willing and eager to help out, and Amelia loved that about her. She heard the front door open and let out a relieved sigh as Hyperion and Sophie came walking into the kitchen, a bag from the market hanging in her wife's hands.
"Do you know how bloody difficult it is to get cranberries on this American holiday?" Peri complained as she sat the bag down on the counter with a huff. The Stark cast her a wicked grin, feeling sympathy for her wife's displeasure.
"You're the best, babe." Amy kissed her wife on the cheek quickly before a shrill voice suddenly filtered into the room.
"Mummy!" Antonia came running into the room and threw herself at Peri, wrapping her arms around her waist. "Mummy! Mama won't let me have a piece of pie!" The rather childish thirteen year old whined out, pouting up at her mother.
"Aww. Isn't that a shame?" Peri mused, casting a small smirk in Amelia's direction. The Latina snorted a bit and rolled her eyes.
"No pie until after dinner, you know the rules, Toni." Amy chided before beginning to prepare the sauce with the cranberries her wife and daughter brought home. Antonia huffed before giving in. She grabbed the set of plates off of the counter and briskly left the room. "Thank you!" Amelia called after her daughter with a smile before the sounds of fake gunfire entered her hearing.
"Dammit!" Amy cursed softly before looking down at the quiet seven year old beside her. "Mama just said a bad word, don't ever use it." Sophie just nodded at her and Amy turned to Hyperion.
"Can you please get Matt off of that stupid game? He needs to help too!" She raised her voice at the last statement so her son could hear her. Peri chuckled before exiting the kitchen to fetch their lazy son.
There was a few moments of silence before Mia felt a tug on her skirt. She glanced down at her youngest and smiled. "Why don't you grab the napkins and help Antonia set the table, baby?"
The little girl gave a smile before reaching up and grabbing the dark orange napkins and heading to the dining room. A moment later, a pouting Matthias came walking in. Amelia smirked at him a moment.
"Go get out of your pajamas and then I need you to pick up the living room with Mum, okay? I don't want to see your game cords or controllers lying around!" A hard glance was sent his way and he sighed before heading towards the stairs begrudgingly.
"Yes, Momma." He muttered before disappearing, leaving Amelia chuckling.
"Mom, I finished the casserole. Is there anything else you want me to do?" Jo's voice popped up from across the kitchen once again, where she had been working away once she returned from the dining room.
"Just make sure the table is set properly for me, kay? Remember that we need an extra seat for Aunt Faux." Amelia breathed out quickly before watching her oldest leave the room with a nod.
As stressful as it seemed, all that panic disappeared a few hours later when everyone was gathered around her dining room table. She caught Hyperion's gaze from across the way and they shared a smile with once another.
Amelia Stark definitely had a lot to be thankful for.
