Ah, the tale old question, "How old is enough?". As a child who grew up on the internet, and have spent most of my time reading at different sites and watching videos, I have seen some pretty disturbing content on social media. And while I understand the parents or older people arguement that we should censor every negative thing that might affect children, I am of the opinion that we sould be given the choice to do so.

I must admit, I read fanfiction, purely for the reason that it is accessible to me and fits what my interests are, that is not to say, that I don't read actual fictional books, because I do, and I enjoy it, however due to financial insufficiency, or simply not enough time, I don't read printed books as much as I would like to.

And one thing that I've noticed when reading fanfiction is the excessive content warnings at the start of the story, which warns the readers of the content; Now, some may argue that it spoils the whole thing to the readers, however, I think it is essential to tag properly to prevent triggered episodes, I know some actual, published, books that have failed to warn people of the content and take the readers by a nasty surprise.

It all boils down to preference, and willingness to consume a media, regardless of the content, and while I have not actually experienced being triggered by a content before, I think it is important and understand the need for it.
