The woods were quiet, almost soothingly so, and best of all, they were dark.  All the better for him to hide in.  People didn't tend to react well to dead skin and lifeless veins and eyes as inhumane as his were.  The further he walked, though, the more he began to realize that he was not alone.  Pace slowing, Kieren reached for the hood of his tattered, brown cloak and pulled it over his head before turning his eyes to his surroundings.
   "I know you're there," he called quietly.
