Today was the saddest day I’ve spent at this barn. I got there in time to spend 2 hours with Titan. I brushed him, gave him a bath, and then let him eat. He knew something was up. He didn’t even finish his watermelon.

The barn owner came out towards the end and she was crying. She’s had a rough few years. A family member was murdered due to domestic violence, and she became very ill with Lyme disease after having her second baby. To the point of losing consciousness during a CT scan. Then the second baby was just hospitalized; he’s ok, but it was another medical bill piled on. Lastly, she has a horse rescue that hasn’t really been active past couple of years and hasn’t raised funds, but a prior horse adopted out came back in really bad condition. That was the last straw that forced her to put Titan and her mare Cricket up for sale.

I really thought Cricket would sell first and then she wouldn’t have to sell Titan. She’s had Cricket 12 years and hasn’t ridden her ever because Cricket hates her. But she’s good for some other people. She's a solid first level dressage horse who has been introduced to cross country and was a lesson horse for 2 years. She only asked $7,000 and advertised her everywhere.

Titan she only advertised once, and for 5 figures, which I thought was a lot for an older horse who’s been out of work and has a dropped pastern. But of course he was the one who sold first. Of course.

He lives in the Hamptons now and will be a trail horse with access to the beach. It doesn’t seem like a bad home at all. But Kait is really his person. He got very upset when the trailer came and bolted from her husband Cody, and got loose. I felt so bad for everyone.
