“The village of Perahóra, in southern Greece, has a rich folkloric heritage. Margarita was born here and inherited her love for traditions from her mother, Marika. With the help of the entire community, Marika founded the Folklore Museum of Perahóra. Many locals donated old belongings to bring this unique place to life and supported it in every way they could, with time, stories, and dedication. The result is a museum that beautifully reflects the soul of the village. Among the museum’s most treasured pieces are the traditional dresses called Mountáfissa. The one worn by Margarita was made 150 years ago for the wedding of her great-great-great-great-grandmother. If you ever find yourself in southern Greece, don’t miss this beautiful place and the spectacular surroundings.”
