i think i definitely have a bunch of inarticulate philosophical and political opinions about life simmering under the surface that are likely influenced by my catholic upbringing and ultimately sound like some bullshit dream logic

for example. today's insane thought is: "overindulgence is not a sin. but it is a sign of weakness. and people are assuming the wrong things about what makes something indulgent, and about who is indulging in what"

#pentababbles #i believe in a life of everything in moderation and balance #that some level of strife and restraint is necessary to make the indulgence more enjoyable #i think those who have struggled for most of their lives gain more value from their occasional indulgences (ie minority groups)#and i think that people who live frictionless lives are weak. overindulging in easy living devalues the indulgence (ie rich people)#i do wish life was easier for those who suffer ofc. but i don't want a frictionless world.#humans are creatures of contrasts. words can't be defined without other words to compare to #and if everything is always perfect and homogenous then everything is meaningless #this is also why the idea of christian heaven and hell is so frightening to me #an eternity of suffering or an eternity of pleasure just sounds like an eternity of emptiness to me #idk this shit sounds ridiculous to me! but a part of me deeply believes it! augh!
