There was this mango tree
In spite of me not noticing,
In spring when tiny flowers bloomed
Wondering how many fruits
Will it bear this season.
the tree itself never stopped growing.
One year the leaves were at my window and
I could reach out and grab its fruit if I wanted.
But the next year the fresh leaves were
replaced by dead ones and
the branches were no longer
peeking through my window.
That is when I took notice that
In spite of me not noticing.
Now I can no longer see the buds
but I know they are still blooming,
no longer can reach for the fruits
but they are as sweet as they are supposed to.
The tiny mango tree, I had taken for granted
has out grown me as it was supposed to.
Who could stop it when she had so much
perseverance and determination
to outgrow the rest of the lot.
