According to Bookly, it will take me another 40 minutes to read finish this.

I needed to stop so I could write in my journal for the day and get a snack.

So, a lot seems to happen in the book, but not a lot really happens. I mean compared to the previous ones; they aren’t going all over the place. They are still traveling through loops and everything, but I feel that a lot of it is taking place in Devil’s Acre and the main point of this book is to set up the Prophecy of Seven for the rest of the series.

Also, to develop Noor’s relationship with Jacob and the rest of the Peculiars. It seemed at first that the book would be about locating and then visiting V, but now, it seems to be about stopping Caul from rising. I don’t know if he will rise by the end of this book, but it seems likely. There has to be a reason for the Prophecy of Seven and so if he doesn’t rise at the end of this, I believe he will in the next book and then maybe that book or the one after it will be about finding the other six from the prophecy and stopping him. I’m also interested in seeing if it will be Caul that rises or Bentham. All signs seem to point to Caul, but Bentham was in the collapsed loop too and it is his recipe.

I love exposition, so this is probably one of my favorite of the series so far. I liked Library of Souls a lot too, but I think it also had a lot of exposition and a lot of things going on.

I am happy they found another way to make the Panloopticon work. I hated that the hollowgast was in it. To me, it’s like a vicious animal that doesn’t know any better and is doing what comes naturally to it, so for it to be treated that way seemed cruel. I would like to see how Jacob’s powers grow and I hope he can keep his hollowgast friend/bodyguard and have a relationship with it like H had with Horatio.

And I am done. This has been my favorite of the series so far. I do wonder how long Riggs plans to make the series.

Two more to maybe wrap it up? One to find all seven of the prophecy and one to take down Caul. Yes, Caul has been resurrected! I like how it was done quickly and not some big show. I don’t believe that Noor or Jacob are at any risk of dying in the loop. I figure maybe because Noor is special, she might save them. I didn’t care for how the whole thing with V was so played up and then she and Noor only got moments together, after V told her it was all a big sentimental mistake.

I liked all the characters that were introduced and appreciated the way other relationships were explored and built up. I have no idea how long it will take for another book to come out, but I am looking forward to it.

Another great read. I’m interested in knowing what the next two books are about now. It seems one story has ended, so are the next two a new chapter of that or somehow picking back up after the events of this one?
