Lol, well I was exaggerating a little bit, but it's different when that 15 year old is one's niece/nephew (and child it's probably even worse). Because it literally feels like yesterday when they had tiny toes and were making spit bubbles and today they have an older boyfriend with a red mustang and a person kind of freaks out, ya know? I see other 15 year olds with boy/girlfriends and I'm like "yeah, that's great, that's normal" but all that goes out the window with someone whose diapers I've changed. I think that happens with most people; it's fine if it's someone else or even themselves, but once it's one of their own they suddenly have the urge to meet the guy while cleaning a gun even if they hate guns.

I didn't get a boyfriend until I was 18, actually, but I think it's even worse because I know what it's like. I recognize the starry "first love" look in her eyes and I want to wrap her in ten layers of bubble wrap and protect her from anyone crushing her heart ever because even if he is a good guy, good guys can still crush hearts. And it's her first boyfriend so she's unlikely to come out unscathed. But I know she needs to go through this stuff and experience all the fun stuff and the crappy stuff herself and she'll come out better for it, like I did. And I'll smile and giggle with her while she goes through the good stuff and hold her and give her ice cream while she goes through the bad stuff. And she's really a smart cookie so I trust her.
