Peanut Allergy
We’re in the car and Oliver tells me that even if he could, he would never want to be in a trial to overcome his peanut allergy. Never, he says. Never, ever, ever.
Oliver has been allergic to peanuts the entirety of his existence; we discovered it shortly after he turned one. Probably before then I was harming him subtly by proxy, since I nursed him.
It strikes me as odd that Oliver would claim his allergy this vigorously until it doesn’t. We have defined so much of his life by it, out of necessity. Of course he would one day claim it, hold it close, refuse to consider letting it go. Say, in a way, if this is me, then let it be me.
#chronicallyill365 Days 137&138: Had a mini-wheat cereal induced gastroparesis malfunction and a gastroparesis induced vasovagal response yesterday. I spent all day sleeping after I finished throwing up. Even though my stomach is feeling better today, I've decided to give my stomach a rest. I'm living off of juice and ice pops right now. I went to the dollar tree earlier to get some Posh stuff because I needed out of the house. I found these Sunny D ice pops! They are soooo yummy! I'm going to have to go back and get a couple more boxes, they are my new go-to gastroparesis treat. I have an appointment with my primary care next week to talk about liquid meal replacements. I can't find any in stores that I'm not allergic to. I've done some research, and I'm hoping we can get my insurance to approve Kate Farms. It seems like that brand would be the safest for me, but I can't afford it myself, which is why I'm going to my doctor about it. I've been having a difficult time trying to find stuff my stomach tolerates. I'm allergic to milk/dairy, eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. And I can no longer eat stuff with a lot of fiber in it. I do really well with liquids though. I know I'm not getting adequate nutrition and need to do something about it. #ehlersdanlossyndrome #gastroparesis #stomachparalysis #delayedgastricemptying #liquidnutrition #katefarms #dairyallergy #milkallergy #peanutallergy #treenutallergy #foodallergies
