@johndhu asked me about asari bonding bracelets, and this idea just came to me, that the asari would use nerves or neurons as a symbol of love and connection, just like how we use hearts for the same thing, because of melding.
Instead of saying "i ♡ you" the asari just go "i ✴ you!"

Some guy tried to mansplain my own degree to me… a degree he doesn’t have nor has ever studied. Then he started glazing generative ai, proudly stating that he doesn’t care that it’s bad for the environment. I truly wish I could make men explode with my mind
Aside from the occasional Shohei fic, I publish poetry on an undisclosed account (and sometimes, just within the safety of Notes app). I try not to, but I believe I write best I'm sad, or when it revolves around a sad, angsty theme. Writing is a lost hobby for me ever since I started work years ago and I'm so glad that this year, I was able to return to it and make my free time more meaningful and productive.
I'm a corporate girlie so most of my weekdays are spent thinking big, big thoughts so reading/writing has been a natural lifesaver for me (aside from fangirling over Shohei and baseball of course!)
If you have given any of my writing some love, have commented or left me messages here thank you! Receiving love for the work I love the most means a lot to me, especially when you tell me to write more really motivates me and validates me that living in a cloud of fantasy ain't so bad after all.
I'm still contemplating if I should post my non-fic stuff that I've written about or leave this page solely for Shohei. In the mean time, I am linking all what I've written so far below!

These are just some thoughts I'm having on my first playthrough, still only halfway done with ME2, but I thought maybe some of you might find it interesting?
Thinking a lot about how the asari could have lived before they came into contact with the other species. How they were one of the most technologically advanced species, developing interstellar travel so fast, they have awfully long lifespans, they're considered beautiful and are respected, and yet it almost feels like living amongst aliens for so long changed their perception of themselves as a species fundamentally.
Now it's obvious that their "default" way of mating being with partners of different species is not a plot hole but straight up a plot... sift???? But what I could imagine is that overtime they developed a preferance for mating with the other species, seeing its benefits. Which in itself is fine, but it gives them a very unique relationship with the rest of the galaxy.
The asari aren't even women, and yet they're objectified as such, and I wouldn't be surprised if that caused major changes in how THEY see themselves as a species. Worrying about entering the matron stage and looking old, when for their species specifically, aging should be seen as something to take pride in, coming closer and closer to becoming a wise matriarch. Or how awfully common it is for them to end up spending their maiden years as dancers in clubs. You can't even blame them, they probably see it as an easy way to make money in an industry that clearly has a lot of demand, but isn't it sad to imagine that this is the norm to a lot of them?
Or how, despite not being women, they just accepted that the galaxy refers to them with feminine pronouns and terms. Sure, they are aware of how they appear to those other species and maybe not all of them take an issue with being seen as women, and yet it puts them in a sort of box that makes it even more comfortable, easy and familiar for some of those other species to objectify them. They're sexy exotic "women" who are willingly giving themselves to them.
And if we assume that it really is their own biology that forces them to need to appeal to the other species, to ensure that they have healthy children, then it is a horribly sad fate in a way.
It's not that they're not aknowledged for their achivements, it's not thay they're the most opressed. It's just that they'll always be seen in a certain way.
So all of that makes me wonder how they lived their lives before they came into contact with aliens and only had each other to mate. What did their relationships look like? I could imagine polyamory being common amongst them to help raise children together. What did their beauty standards look like, their fashion, their interpersonal relationships, how did they express their sexuality, what did they judge in each other?
