The Program.  Creatively this was a really interesting project to work on as I hadn’t worked with InDesign at all before, and while I had done some poster design, designing a readable and coherent program is an art within itself. Nevertheless I feel this was a pretty solid outcome for a first timer. This has been an absolute pleasure to work on. Now I just hope some awesome playwright, musicians and lyricist (Tim Minchin I’m looking at you an Lin Manuel Miranda) to pull together something truly magical. Because I can only imagine the hit that this would be.  You saw it first here.

The Poster Would you go and see this? I think you would. I sure as hell would.  Very very proud of this design. From it’s beginning to it’s completion it’s gone of like clockwork. As a little bonus I’ve thrown in the initial sketch I did on my phone. See how far it’s come. This is the sort of design work I love doing!!

One finishing touch to the piece. And there is more you haven’t seen yet so get excited.  These rehearsal pics just made this program so solid. I’m really really happy with this now. Though I spent far too long deciding the right layout for these images that it’s not funny.  Final coming very soon!!

Now this is the slow part, writing the Bio text. I’ve got the cast shots and all the titles finished, photoshopping every picture so it’s nice in black and white and with the right contrast (Though I think Lena Headey’s needs to be a bit less white but it looks okay) Much appreciation goes out to the Hamilton Soundtrack which is accompanying me into the wee hours of the night to accomplish this feat of designing a program for a musical that hasn’t even been made.

Starting work on the Program, Edited the Poster subtly so both the poster and program cover tie in to the overall design well. Now starting with a song list and orchestra and crew sheet, as that’s what I generally look at the most.  Many of my personal friends and people who work in the shows I do are making appearances, as well as my own name. Though every name has been changed slightly. Which I had a bit of fun doing. My favourite was my old boss, Brett Vanhorn being turned into Ben VanHilmer.  Overall the program’s making headway. Keen to show it in it’s full extent

Starting my last project for my PDT class. This one is focusing on InDesign. I decided to design the poster and program for a Game of Thrones Broadway Musical. Something I felt I had a serious handle over as I’m a bit of an avid fan. This week I’ve been focusing on the Poster and I feel it turned out well. I had to completely redraw the sword because the source image was low res and dirty and then I got a high res crown as a replacement.  Overall I think this is turning out really well. Let’s see how the program goes.
