I’d taken you to the beach ‘cause there was a carnival, but when we got there we found it deserted. Seemed they’d packed up the night before and I’d read the poster wrong...I was so nervous, I thought I’d ruined everythin’, but you just smiled and pushed my shoulder. You tagged me. Like we were kids. Then you took off like a shot down that beach. We spent hours on that empty beach, just playin’ in the waves and actin’ like little kids. Paul: You cheated on me? Wilhelmina: I...yes. We only kissed, which I know doesn’t make things any better but... Paul: No, you’re right. It doesn’t. You really felt that alone? You really felt like you couldn’t talk to me about what was worryin’ you? Wilhelmina: I just got so wrapped up in my own fear and self-doubt...Linda was bein’ more hostile than usual... Paul: That’s not an excuse! Wilhelmina: What does it even matter?! One kiss with a woman versus years of devotion to you. Paul: This is not about her being a woman!
