#pattern free

I made this pattern for a friends birthday, they really like the game so.... anyway if I did it again I think I would make the body/legs more straight like the sprite and not so - nutsack looking - Here's the pattern if anyone else wants a go to improve it :' ) Would love to see it if you do ! I'm happy to answer any questions. notes : I use US terms even though I'm a filthy brit. I'm sorry I didn't count the stitches- I used scrap yarn so don't ask. I also used a 2.5mm hook (just use what you're comfortable with, it only changes the size of it). Legs : mr6 incx6 sc,inc around sc around - 1 2 3 rows f.o first leg but NOT the other, connect together by joining with a sc mark this place (36) Body : sc around 1 2 rows sc 16 d x2 (34) sc8 d,d, sc11,d,d,sc7 (30) sc6d,d,d,sc3 x2 sc7,d,sc10,d,sc3 sc9,dx2 sc6,d,dx2 f.o and leave long tail to sew head to body.

“The anti-pink quilt”

A quilt finished in a week! OMG 😲 I can not believe it!  

When Craftsy had a free viewing day I watched Joe Cunninghams lesson plan on pattern free piecing. And from what I remember, (which wasn't totally right) I made this 54321 quilt. It Is incredibly busy, but I like it. 

Basically you match your 5″4″3″2″1″ strips  so the total adds up to 6. So 5 with 1, 2 with 4 etc.....and sew them together. Then when you have that, cut strips of 5″4″3″2″1 and pair them in the same way. Pair them with their opposite. When you do it it makes more sense. I don't think I explained very well!

Then to assemble what you do is use various rules that you make up, to order your quilt block placement. I mostly put light in the middle and orange patchy blocks on the edge. I also put the blocks with narrow pieces around the edge forming a inner border. They were not hard and fast rules. 

I enjoyed the process and will definitely be doing more of the same, but next time I will make it slightly less intense by using less busy printsand a few solids.
