Did you hear about what happened to Tommy :0
No I haven't. What has he gotten himself into this time?
21. the world !
what do the cards have to offer? — accepting!
the world: is there one thing in life that your muse must accomplish? what will they do when they complete that goal ?
Here’s the really sad thing about being a sheltered kid with adult friends only: they will encourage you to be happy with what you have, they will give you things to occupy yourself with and soon enough, you won’t be able to imagine your life any other way.
It happened when she went to school and got bullied ('they’re just jealous because you’re happy’), it happened when Grandma Ruby and Uncle Rodrik suddenly needed help at the bookshop (’you have such a way with people, my dear. time to make good use of it’), it happened when Daddy died (’won’t you take care of his garden? it’ll make you feel closer to him’).
Eventually, you get so used to life one way that you lose any ambition to do something with it. So you don’t go to college, because people are awful so why would you want to be near them when you can learn from all the books in the world? And you don’t move from the city, because this is where you know everything and everyone.
Even after almost everyone you knew and loved dies, you still don’t change the house from the way Mom liked. You keep wearing their clothes, using their stuff, and you don’t even realize you haven’t been living for a while, merely existing.
A change will either unravel your entire life for better or implode it for worse. Eventually, someone will push you to find out what change you want and only then you’ll figure out the desired outcome. Until then, be content with your mere existence and don’t believe you’re making a dent in anyone else’s.
