he knows what he should be doing , he knows that he should be mingling at the funeral , talking with others about their memories and mourning and celebrating both , but he can't. he's just ... sitting on the roof , hearing the conversations that others are having , and feeling as if a part of his soul is gone.

... knowing that she feels the same , dick doesn't leave his place on the rooftop when he hears familiar footsteps behind him. " it feels like you've been avoiding me , " artemis says , and dick huffs a laugh. ( it doesn't sound real. he doesn't think it will , not for a long time , maybe not ever. ).

❛  di一  nightwing,  i’m  not  letting  you  die  here一  ❜  his  hands  are  slick  with  blood  where  he’s  taken  his  gloves  off  to  more  effectively  triage  the  jagged  wound  torn  through  dick’s  abdomen.  he stares at the way the liquid catches the light.

somehow,  he  always  forgets  how  warm  it  feels  before  it  goes  tacky.  98.6  degrees  fahrenheit  on  average  (  and  dick’s  test  results  are  always  so  picture  perfect  ).  nearly  five  liters  in  an  adult  male  of  his  size.  40%  lost  and  dick  dies.  two  liters.  at  least  half  that  already  stains  the  ground  around  them.  too  much.  it’s  too  much  and  tim  can’t  make  it  stop.  

he  can’t  make  it  stop.  

dick  is  going  to  bleed  out  here  because  of  him.  he  curls  his  body  around  his  older  brother,  shaking  his  head.  ❛  please,  ❜  he  begs,  like  it’s  anywhere  near  enough  to  stop  this.  ❛  please,  don’t一❜  

more  blood  oozes  out  from  his  attempts  at  a  bandage  and  tim  shakes.  dick  is  going  to  die  here.  

he  steels  himself.  there’s  no  time  for  a  breakdown.  he  has  to  get  out  of  this.  teeth  sink  into  his  lip  hard  enough  that  he  tastes  metal.  pulling  back,  he  cups  dick’s  face  in  one  hand.  rage  burns  through  him  as  he  looks  down  at  his  dying  brother,  thrumming  through  his  veins  with  an  indescribable  heat.  he’ll  kill  them.  fuck  bruce’s  rules,  he’ll  kill  each  and  every  one  of  these  stupid  villains.  he’ll  make  them  pay  for  this.

Nico winced as he ground his teeth together, doing his best to do as instructed. God, this hurt though. Usually ghosts couldn't grab you, it sort of came with the territory of being a ghost, but that ghost had a knife and for some reason, a ghostly knife could hurt. Fortunately at least he'd held up his arm reflexively, catching the blade on his forearm rather than on something important. Barely had time to register the starburst of pain before he yelled, the ghost flying away from him to leave the blade embedded in his arm.

The ghost's essence seemed to shred with the yell, or maybe it was more than a yell, but for some reason, that didn't mean the knife went with it.

favorite thing to make is beef pho, specifically the way his parents made it. one of his most cherished memories is standing on a stool next to his father while he made the batches for the restaurant. he was terrified that he’d forget how to make it as he got older but he managed to find his mother’s recipe book. the pages are well worn now. he doesn’t actually get to cook them super often because he doesn’t have reliable access to a full kitchen until he’s with ghostmaker. but he does read them a lot. enough that he probably has them memorized by now.

she  remembers  waking  up  in  a  chair,  her  entire  life  before  that  moment  just  wiped  from  her  memory.  she  doesn’t  even  know  her  name,  though  she  retains  all  her  skills  learned.  the  machine  is  supposed  to  remove  all  memories  of  trauma  so  the  user  can  flourish  into  their  best  self.  she  agreed  to  it,  though  she  doesn’t  remember  why.  the  man  who  created  the  machine  asked  her  what  her  name  was  and  she  gave  a  series  of  words  that  feel  right.  she  renamed  herself  “miracle  molly”,  which  was  her  handle  on  the  website  where  she  first  stumbled  across  the  unsanity  collective.  

she’s  shown  the  video  of  herself  before  the  procedure  and  she  remarks  that  the  woman  in  the  video  looked  incredibly  tired  and  sad.
