Patrick Steinwidder (* 1978 in Judenburg, Austria) went to University in Austria and Italy. After working as a professional drama educator and assistant at Stadttheater Klagenfurt, he trained at RADA. In 2011 he graduated from the MA in Theatre Directing course (professional showcase production: REIGEN by Arthur Schnitzler). Since then he has worked as an assistant director at Deutsches Theater Berlin (with acclaimed director Stephan Kimmig) and won the Carinthian State Prize for Young Performing Artists in 2011. In 2012 he debuted at the Bavarian National Theatre in Munich directing Arthur Schnitzler’s Reigen (La Ronde), see also www.residenztheater.de/inszenierung/reigen. This production sold out for the whole year and went into rep the following season. In 2013 Patrick directed and designed a critically acclaimed production of Caryl Churchill’s Far Away for the Klagenfurt State Theatre in Austria as a special site specific. Also in 2013, he directed and designed the UK premiere of Peter Turrinii’s seminal play Infanticide at Camden People’s Theatre. The production went on to be invited by the National Burgtheater in Vienna in September 2014. Patrick’s upcoming projects include Kafka’s Letter to the Father as a monologue show and an especially commissioned version of Goethe’s Faust Part Two for the National Residenz Theatre in Munich in 2014.

Patrick Steinwidder geb. 1978 in Judenburg. Magisterstudium Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaft in Klagenfurt und Bologna (u.a. bei Maja Haderlap und Klaus Ottomeyer), Abschluss 2003. Nach Stationen in Hamburg, Brüssel und Salzburg 2007-2010 Theaterpädagoge und Assistent am Stadttheater Klagenfurt. 2010-2012 absolvierte er als erster (und einziger) deutschsprachiger Student das Masterstudium in Theaterregie an der Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. Im Rahmen des Studiums Assistenzen u.a. bei Stephan Kimmig am Deutschen Theater Berlin. Kulturförderungspreis für Darstellende Kunst des Landes Kärnten 2011. Patrick Steinwidder inszenierte u.a. in Wien (Burgtheater), München (Residenztheater), Klagenfurt (Stadttheater) und London (GBS Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre).
