the creep tapes are a really interesting exploration of the character of the creep when you look at it as something linear. clearly he's spiraling, deviating from his typical m.o. of "hire someone to film me and act really weird all day, then put on my funny little wolf mask and hit them over the head with an axe." in season 2 especially, he's trying new methods of killing, and the amount of time he appears to spend with his victims is getting shorter and shorter. he's also increasingly engaging in riskier behaviors like killing people out in the open, killing people during the day, presumably abandoning bodies, and killing cops and stealing their equipment.
season 2 episode 4 "ava" also stood out because, to me, that house felt different to the others. it felt lived in. it had weird smells and personal belongings, and the backyard fort seems like something that might have been there for a little while. i think that was the creep's real house, which is another bold, rash move on his part.
even he's acknowledged that he's off his game, saying he doesn't know what his problem is, whether it's because he's getting older or because he's truly just lost the thrill he gets from killing. he still feels compelled to kill, or he wouldn't keep doing it; he'd go dormant, go underground, maybe do something else for a while. but ever since creep 2, he's been off, and that has a lot to do with aaron, as he's able to acknowledge. he loved aaron and considers him his "favorite.
but i think it also has something to do with sara. maybe he didn't kill her. maybe she bested him and got away. maybe he can't handle that. as other people have mentioned, he was giving the aaron animal figure a lot more attention than the sara animal figure, despite them both being important to him. he also picked a victim who was very similar to sara aesthetically and in her exploitative ambition, likely in an attempt to finalize what he couldn't with sara. he also killed her in a very big, open, and slow and agonizing way, like maybe he wanted people to see it and he also wanted it to be slow and painful enough that he could watch her suffer for a longer amount of time.
recently, after spending a lot of time going back and forth on whether or not they were going to make a creep 3, mark and patrick confirmed that creep 3 was definitely happening, and that it would be the end of the franchise. last night, i noticed the title card for creep 3 had appeared on netflix, obviously without any information because the movie doesn't exist yet and no information has been released, but that seems to confirm to me that the end is very soon.
with how quickly and how much he's devolving, it definitely feels like something big is bound to happen, and i'm really excited to see it, whatever it is.
Codependency. Co. Dependency. It's one of those big, confusing words floating around that you don't even pay attention to. Until it happens to you. And at first it sounds great, you know? You love someone and you need someone so much that you can't properly function without them? Uh, yes, please!
