New Songs
I've been writing new songs lately and recording them. Here's the lyrics of a new one I composed on guitar. This leads me to say, I'm learning how to play guitar. I was about to buy one, and then God gave me one through someone I had just met recently who did not know that I wanted one.
Love song/ Wise Virgin
The day has passed
Night has come
Beloved One
I'll sing You this song
{{I will wait for You
All through the night
I will not lose heart
Keep my lamp burning bright}}
Bought my oil
Trimming the wick as my light burns on
Come my King
Watching the sky as I look for the dawn
{{Back to chorus}}
Altogether lovely
Altogether good
This is my friend
This is my beloved
When He comes
Let the trumpet sound
My Bridegroom
Let a heart that's faithful be found
{{Chorus}}
There it is. Some of the concepts were inspired from hearing about what a wedding and betrothal was actually like in Jesus day. My friend M lent me a book by Patricia King that explained the whole process. Part of the narrative explains that after the couple was betrothed, the finance would go to his father's house to prepare a place for his bride. The bride's job was to prepare herself and wait. No one knew when the husband-to-be would return, only the father, who would assess when he thought the son and his preparations were complete. So both bride and groom had to be ready at all times, hence the lamps in the window at night. When the groom would come the whole town would go out, a trumpet would sound announcing his coming, and the bride would go out to meet him. The wedding would happen at that moment. This is what I remember of the book at least. I included a link to it above. As for the song, I am happy to realize that as I compose music on guitar, Randy noted, that it has a bit of a folk rock flare. To some that is good news, to others bad, but as for me, I love doing it!
Stay tuned for a link to some of the music I've been recording. My annoying artist/musician disclaimer is that the songs are only recorded in garage band with the most primitive of equipment, however I want to share and bless people in any way I can, so I will see what I can do...
