Ever wondered about the eye and skin colours of the P1 characters?
I've extracted the textures and merged them together.
Beware, stranger, for this sight is not for the faint of heart.

i've been looking for a RU transcript of the P1 pantomimes for ages, and finally found one... and the first thing i looked for was the original version of the infamous "People only fear bloodshed when it's their blood and their shed" line from the day 5 pantomime:
Narrator: Но люди не обращают внимания на кровавые реки лишь до тех пор, пока сами не становятся их притоками. Narrator: But people pay no attention to rivers of blood until they themselves become its tributaries.
Folk tales of the Town
I've compiled most of the related dialogues from P1. Lots of screenshots under the cut.
Complex and sophisticated ideas of the Utopians: a long post
disclaimer: this post is about P1. pathologic 1 is a separate game with different characters. lore of P2 and P3 is different too.
Who The Hell Is Danko?
Danko is a character from the third part of the short story Old Izergil by the famous russian and Soviet writer Maxim Gorky. In russia, this story is studied at school, so for russian players the reference in Dankovsky’s surname is obvious. I was surprised when I didn’t find any mention of this on the English wiki page. You can read the full story here: link
What is this character about? Altruism, responsibility that no one else was able to take on, courage, being different from others and bringing something good and new. And Dankovsky is actually very similar to him. These are key themes of his route.

fun fact: andrey's pub theme from P1 is called Primum Vivere. the pub itself is called Factus Est. together these names form a dialogue, like:
— Primum vivere!
— Factus est!
Twyre Is Actually A Fungus
it's just a theory tho Different kinds of twyre don't look like plants of the same genus or even the same family. We also encounter herbs that look like twyre but are not actually twyre. What if… twyre is actually a fungus? Or, more specifically, a symbiosis of certain herbs and an ergot-type fungus.
It is known that sacrifices and dances of herb brides increase the amount of twyre. Fungi grow well on organic matter. (Perhaps during the dances the brides accidentaly cut their feet on stover, smash against solid ground or hurt their feet in any other way.)
This also explains why so much twyre grew before the epidemic: organic matter from livestock burial pits got into the soil.
Twyre is hard to find not because the plants are inconspicuous, but because one needs to identify an infected plant. It "doesn't yield" to Stamatins because they don’t know the signs of infection.
The obvious parallel is ergot. In its pure form it causes ergotism, but LSD can be obtained from it. There's also Botrytis cinerea (grey mould), a fungus used in winemaking.
