These images were taken by pioneering Ottoman photographer Pascal Sébah around 1890. He opened the Ottoman empire’s first photography studio in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul) in 1857, producing pictures of the city’s architectural landmarks for visitors from Europe and North America.
