‘सप्ताह का प्रादर्श’ (03-09 अगस्त, 2020 तक) परवा, एक पानी उठाने का उपकरण कोविड-19 महामारी के प्रसार के कारण दुनिया भर के संग्रहालय बंद है लेकिन यह सभी अपने दर्शकों के साथ निरंतर रूप से जुड़े रहने के लिए विभिन्न अभिनव तरीके अपना रहे हैं। इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मानव संग्रहालय ने भी इस महामारी द्वारा प्रस्तुत की गई चुनौतियो का सामना करने के लिए कई अभिनव प्रयास प्रारंभ किए है। अपने एक ऐसे ही प्रयास के अंतर्गत मानव संग्रहालय ‘सप्ताह का प्रादर्श’ नामक एक नवीन श्रृंखला प्रस्तुत कर रहा है। पूरे भारत से किए गए अपने संकलन को दर्शाने के लिए संग्रहालय इस श्रंखला के प्रारंभ में अपने संकलन की अति उत्कृष्ट कृतियां प्रस्तुत कर रहा है जिन्हें एक विशिष्ट समुदाय या क्षेत्र के सांस्कृतिक इतिहास में योगदान के संदर्भ में अद्वितीय माना जाता है। यह अति उत्कृष्ट कृतियां संग्रहालय के ‘AA’और ‘A’ वर्गों से संबंधित हैं। इन वर्गों में कुल 64 प्रादर्श हैं। परवा चमड़े की एक बाल्टी है, जिसका उपयोग हाथ से खोदे गए कुएं या पक्के कुएं से पानी निकाल कर सिंचाई कार्य के लिए किया जाता है। यह मध्य प्रदेश के भिंड से संकलित किया गया है। इस उपकरण में चमड़े की एक चादर है, जिसे एक गोलाकार गहरी बाल्टी का आकार देकर लोहे के एक हैंगर पर सिला गया है। हैंगर को एक रस्सी से बांधा जाता है जिससे एक घिरनी के ऊपर से डालकर बाल्टी को कुएं में नीचे किया जा सके। बाल्टी में पानी भर जाने के उपरांत रस्सी को हाथों से खींचा जाता है। बड़े आकार के परवा के लिए रस्सी को बैलों के जुए में बांधा जाता है। पानी निकालने के लिए बैलों को मिट्टी के एक रैंप पर चलाते हैं। बड़ी बाल्टियाँ अधिक मात्रा में पानी खींचने हेतु प्रयोग की जाती हैं जिसे छोटी संकरी नालियों के माध्यम से खेत में वितरित किया जाता है। आरोहण संख्या – 99.418 स्थानीय नाम – परवा, एक पानी उठाने का उपकरण समुदाय – लोक स्थानीयता – भिंड, मध्य प्रदेश माप – ऊंचाई-78 सेमी. /व्यास- 191 सेमी. वर्ग – ‘ए’ https://igrms.com/wordpress/?page_id=683 #parwa #leatherbucket #igrms #igrmsbhopal #bhopal #museumfromhome #museumobject #museumofman #museumofmankind #museumofhumankind #objectoftheweek #experienceigrms #igrmsstories #intangibleculturalheritage #ich #culturalheritageofIndia #staysafe #stayhealthy #traditionalknowledgesystem #animalhide #waterliftingdevice #irrigationtechnique #indianagriculture #subsistencepattern #folkcommunity #craftsmanship #leatherandiron #lohar #mochi #indigen https://www.instagram.com/p/CDa66hLD-cC/?igshid=1kzbtn8xpd1yo

OBJECT OF THE WEEK (03-09 August, 2020) PARWA, a water lifting device Due to spread of COVID-19 pandemic the museums throughout the world are closed but identifying different innovative ways to remain connected to their visitors. Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (National Museum of Mankind) has also taken up many new initiatives to face the challenges posed by this pandemic. In one such step it is coming up with a new series entitled ‘Object of the Week’ to showcase its collection from all over India. Initially this series will focus on the masterpieces from its collection which are considered as unique for their contribution to the cultural history of a particular ethnic group or area. These masterpieces belong to the “AA” & “A” category. There are 64 objects in these categories. Parwa is a leather bucket used to lift water from hand dug well or lined well for irrigation work. It is collected from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. The device consists of a leather sheet shaped into a circular deep bucket, stitched to a raised iron hanger. The hanger is tied to a rope which passes over a pulley to lower the bucket into the well. After the bucket is filled the rope is pulled by hands. For large Parwa the rope is fixed to the yoke of bullocks to increase the leverage. The bullocks walk down on an earthen ramp to lift the water. The large buckets assist in drawing large quantity of water which is channelized through small, narrow drains towards the irrigation field.
